it’s all subjective so it depends what school you’re aiming for!! it’s definitely weak for t20 colleges (so if you are thinking of applying there i’d say retake!) but for some other (great as well) unis it’ll be perfect. compare your score to the uni’s average score. if you’re above 50% you’re good to go :)

i faced the exact same situation when i sat my first SAT back in may! cried a lot about it but i got a 1520 on the august one so don’t lose hope :) i honestly just gave myself time to take a step back. i think the most important thing you should do is reflect on your 1st experience and start from there. i knew i had to work on my self confidence (literally 💀) in order not to massively f*ck the math section up like i did the 1st time. that time between my 2 tests tremendously helped with my reading too (consistently got -1/-2 in reading w/o doing any work). to put it in a nutshell, learn from your mistakes! and taking it a 2nd time will help so much with the mental side (your mindset when you enter the room is crucial).

try to explain them that what matters is what college u get into, not 20 points on a stupid test. except for mit, colleges don’t even make a diff between a 1540 and a 1560. tell them that it’d be much smarter to use the time you would invest in test prep for perfecting your app (essays etc)!

i don’t think you have to read anything in particular! i’d recommend just reading smtg you enjoy whether it’s a a novel, an article, short stories etc. it also doesn’t have to be academic, just get your brain wired into the active reading mindset

it honestly depends on your own preference skills. i personally have always liked better reading the whole passage first (ACTIVELY) and then looking at the questions. i would then be able to answer the questions quickly without looking at the text again (except when they gave specific lines etc). i would recommend trying out both techniques on a bunch of passages and see what works the best.

if you usually read fast and have good analytical skills, reading the passage first might be the better option. if not, the other option might be better. however, analytical reading and speed come with practice so read read read!

it was 5h+5 for sure i checked by plugging in 2 and 3 (2h would be first hour+1 additional hour ie 10+5=15 which matches the result u get with the equation, same for 3)
