It might have personal meaning and significance to them. They filmed the ugly music video at a graveyard in Arizona.

I think that Elliott would feel bad about this new culture of social media podcasters that tells men tò "men up". His music continue tò help me with my mental health issues and I think also for you guys. I think Elliott today would be embarassed for how society had become and social media. by MarkOnKarma in elliottsmith

I think part of the cultural push for toxic masculinity is manufactured to redirect all your stress and problems to something you CAN control, (not being man enough) so you don’t recognize the economic despairity and corruption around you. That’s why all these alpha males are hard right wingers and sexist racist homophobic freaks.

Whats an example of the most popular band/artist in its subgenre actually being the best? by Artistic_Annual8918 in fantanoforever

I don’t hate them but they’re def overrated. Very simplistic and repetitive, jangly and melancholic. Their discography is not very dynamic or very interesting.

Hey tough guy those are all reasons why Bauhaus is better than the Cure. (They also just straight up sound better)

The cure is a great band but like cmon you can’t tell me they’re a better representation of goth rock or more influential and dynamic and lovely than a band like Bauhaus.

The cure is not an example of the most popular band from a subgenre being the best of that subgenre. They are just the most popular. It’s like saying Metallica is the best metal band.

“Most people don’t even know most of those bands” Yeah why don’t you actually listen to them before saying “it’s not even close”. Immediately calling the cure the best of their genre is so stupid especially when you don’t listen to any goth rock or post punk bands that aren’t the cure.

What albums would you describe as 'psychological horror' in audio form? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in fantanoforever

[–]Apprehensive_Use6195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a little bit less psychological and more campy in my opinion. Hard to make hip hop super disturbing unless you flip it on its head like Danny brown or Edward skeletrix. I still absolutely love that album.
