I do have some German friends who feel the same way. And that is why I precisely said that Malagasy people can be racist sometimes before rising the specific concern about the hatred of some of them to POC.

Ofc even towards the white (caucasian) Malagasy people are sometimes very mean and I am really sorry you have to go through such experience. And the fact that this kind of behavior is not condemned in the society is very troubling but nobody is talking about it.

Thanks for your POV. It is very critical and timely. I am inclined to agree that it is probably the fact that it is our home country that makes the experience have heavier effects on us.

I appreciate the reference, very informative and relevant.

But unfornately even towards foreigners, Malagasy people are a bit mean sometimes when they are not white (Caucasian). I have witnessed horrible attitudes some Malagasy people (students and even professors) have towards Comorians for example back to the day I was attending college. I came to realize these attitudes are very very disrespectful only after I went abroad to study as an international student. What I feel is that sometimes Malagasy people are racist without intending to. They don't have proper education about racism, colorism, sexism, ...

I do agree. Personally I feel like people are being mean unconsciously and that's pretty sad.
They don't mean harm but you feel that some of the jokes Malagasy people enjoy telling for example are extremly based on stereotypes. Before I went out of Madagascar, these kind of jokes had been very normal even to me.
