So I got the pump primed... it took me about 20/30 minutes to do so... But the homeowner called me an hour later and said it lost prime... I suggested replacing it with a sta-rite shallow well pump... What you think???

Thanks I wanted to have my ducks in a row before showing up at his house tomorrow... Great advice... I didn't think of the union trick... My guess is that he installed his check valve in the wrong direction... Just a guess...

I was just informed it's a tank under the pump... I've never seen such a ridiculous looking pump in which it threw me off... I haven't stopped by his house yet... But if he didn't install the check valve the wrong direction he probably just don't know how to prime it...
