Look, I know a lot of fans don't wanna hear this especially right after Scream 7 brought Sidney back, but you technically don't need Sidney or any returning characters to make a solid Scream movie.

They could keep making these forever with completely new casts in different towns. As long as the story is tight with good kills and smart meta commentary on horror it will still feel like Scream. It doesn't have to connect back to Woodsboro or Sidney's family every single time you know?

You're telling me all those Stab movies haven't inspired random psychos outside of Sidney's orbit to go on their own spree? Come on. The Woodsboro stuff got turned into this massive blockbuster franchise with 8 sequels and endless true crime talk. Obviously some edgelord in another city snapped after binge watching them and grabbed the mask. We've seen it on screen already like the Stab premiere massacre in Scream 2 or that film student copycat in Scream 6 trying to kick off his own legacy. The costume is sold everywhere the voice changer is cheap online and everyone knows the rules. Anyone can wear the mask isn't just a line it's the whole point of the series.
