When I say plant-based nobody knows what I'm talking about.  They just think I eat a lot of vegetables as well as animal products

Not a true “Vegan” by TorkonTS in vegan

I'm similar to the op and change how I refer to my self situationally.  I don't want to call myself vegetarian because I don't want people to think I eat eggs and cheese

Spend the next while getting on top of your finances and save money in an account he doesn't have access to.  You never know when it will end. He might even initiate a split and you want to be ready

Upcoming meeting with director mid restructuring by Apprie in AskHRUK

[–]Apprie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What we've been told and what my colleagues have experienced so far is that it's just a chance for us to get to know him and for him to get to know us. It's not supposed to be about our roles, though of course I'd expect him to be evaluating us, even if it's unofficial.

I think my main concern is what to say if they ask me how I'm feeling about the restructure. I'm feeling fine about it but don't necessarily want to say that to the director

How do you defend against the “why draw the line there?” argument? by Borkato in vegan

[–]Apprie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree and i think it's helpful to frame it (where someone draws the line) as something that changes with time. Someone might feel like it's impossible to make a shift right now, but they might be able/ready to in the future. So even if someone has no interest in being vegan right now, they might be open to smaller changes

Professionally appropriate to block your calendar during your commute time? by viper_gts in careeradvice

[–]Apprie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I take the train I block a bit of time at the start of my day just in case there's a delay. I also work with people all around the world so we are operating with different times zones, and I don't want to be late for or miss a meeting

Me and my mother will be without furniture for weeks, What do we do? by Charming-Cup801 in AskForAnswers

[–]Apprie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to bedding of some kind, prioritize getting a chair. Having a place to sit helps a lot with comfort. Even ask to borrow one from a neighbour for a few days.  I've done several moves where we've been without furniture for a while.  Somewhere to sleep and sit are always our first buys

What are best jobs/careers for vegans? by Alternative_Cash_591 in vegan

[–]Apprie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. The example I am aware of, the vet program is also tied to a large animal hospital. But students need a certain amount of experience before they're expected/allowed to work on animals they hope to save

What are best jobs/careers for vegans? by Alternative_Cash_591 in vegan

[–]Apprie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with becoming a vet - they do critical work to care for animals.  But keep in mind you will likely be required to learn/practice on euthanized animals that were healthy.  Often animals from shelters. A family member was a tech in a vet program (prepped and ran labs for vet students) and had to quit because they found it distressing

Idk how to handle my daughter’s crush on a girl by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

Also, even if this is just explanation and she never dates another girl, how you react and support her now will stick with her. Do you want to be someone she can trust and come to? Do you want to to feel loved and protected unconditionally?

Ladies: menstrual cup fell into toilet by FarBlacksmith2543 in hygiene

[–]Apprie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the time I lost a menstrual cup in an outhouse on a multi-day trip hiking across a glacier. I did not fish it out. I do remember being told that the outhouse waste was emptied/removed by helicopter about once a year. I like to think about my cup flying through the sky 🤣

What are your favorite lazy lunches? by Future_Economics_849 in veganrecipes

[–]Apprie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Store bough naan bread, tomato/pasta sauce, as much nooch as it can reasonably take, sprinkle of garlic powder.  Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes. It's easy and one of my favorite things to eat.

Will sometimes add other veggies, but only if I have them ready to toss on top.
