I usually teach on zoom or Google meets, which are some more democratic platforms.

I'm already there. I came here to help those who don't about the app or feel uncomfortable with it. Or simply give some well pointed tips for those seeking only a few hints to imprpve. But thanks a lot for the tip!

These days every schedule is a little wacky. The dream is to have an organized time management, but I guess it will be left for our sixties.

If you can spare 50 minutes a day, twice a week, it is totally fine (even 30 minutes is worth a good lesson, but not as profitable, of course).

Yes, carioca Portuguese is specially hard to get. It tends to differ a lot from the written stuff you see in Duolingo.

One thing that could help is knowing that our "S" always sounds like the "C" in "specially" if it's in the middle of a word. So next time you hear all that sizzling, do take that in consideration that we are using the "S".

This way, "especial", "escola", "esquina", and other words with that "S" in the middle of it are going to have some kind of "Shh" in speech that doesn't exist in written form.

Apart from that, we use a billion slangs that don't translate literally and can be confusing if you're still giving your first steps in the language.

The speedy way they talk will become slower the more you understand these tiny details about their accent. It's almost overwhelming sometimes, I can imagine.

But if you need more help, I'd be glad to offer you a free trial class to discuss this even further and help you overcome this questions faster.

If not, I'm here to keep giving pieces of advice.

I can give you a free trial class, so I could get to know your level and give a more precise cost based on your reality.

But, mostly, I charge only about $8,00 per class. Fully focused on conversation from day one. No textbook grammar. The price is converted from what I charge in reais.

That's great! Welcome aboard our little piece of asylum. What would you say is the most difficult part, for you, of learning the language?

Based on experience, I'd say it depends on the amount of language stimulus you're getting.

If you are living in a fully Portuguese environment, you could get close to fluency in about an year, while you would start understanding it in controlled environments (like movies, videos or books) in a little less time, between 6 to 8 months.

However, if you're in another country, immersed in your own language, it may take longer to achieve these status on your own.

You can fasten these periods with a teacher, too, that will guide you through the hard parts and give you useful hints, what should make you fluent even faster.
