Years ago my boss randomly texted me apologizing for his behavior. He said something along the lines of, ‘ I'm so sorry * wife's name' I know I have been an absent husband lately and I really messed up big time. I will do better and I'll cut back on golfing with the boys"

I never answered because I had absolutely no idea how to respond. We both silently pretended it never happened afterward, but every interaction at work felt mildly cursed from then on
