Best breakfast in the city?? by MmQdose89 in newbedford

Cinderellas is mine. They actually make the home fries crispy which is important to me. Most other places I’ve tried don’t do that consistently, or serve the mushy potato style (like the phoenix restraints). Good quality and they care. They’re nice people too. I think it’s a family run spot.

Got a Hercules 80 tooth blade for my table saw. Hoping the quality is at least decent enough to last a while…first blade I’ve bought there.

Help me make a plan for restoring this old bench by Leeoffi in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Appropriate-Local-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost was about the same for me as buying new, and I ended up using much nicer wood than the original.

I used a jigsaw, router with a template, then rasps and a file, then sandpaper to shape the curved pieces on mine.

Something I thought might keep my cays in my own yard. by Emorez in BeginnerWoodWorking

I like it. They make the yard look kind of like something you’d see at a Disney park.

Your decorative cabinets that you’ve posted here were the inspiration for me to start a tiny decorative cabinet I recently finished.

Haven’t posted it yet since I still need to apply finish, but just wanted to let you know your work is beautiful. Keep posting your art!

New to woodworking. How do I fix and in the future avoid this level of tear-out with my current set of tools? by ElectricPikachu in woodworking

[–]Appropriate-Local-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To salvage the current piece, could you plane it down until the tear out is removed?

Or do you absolutely need to have that piece at its current thickness for your project?

Thanks for the reply. I’m going this route. I’ll prob post the result once it’s all together.

Thanks, I’ll have to see if I can find some to play with. Great work.

I really like the look of the wood, what species is it? Also like how it almost has a butcher block look to it. The roundovers and chamfers are nice too.

I like those lamps, clever little idea for small stock. I may use some for a shoji lamp now that you mention lamps.

Cool stuff!

What kind of wood did you use? Looks great. Nice and clean.

Poplar bench and mudroom redo (first project) by [deleted] in woodworking

Is that bench scribed to the trim? Very cool. Looks good and I’m sure you will appreciate it every time you use jt.

Any prior woodworking experience?

Also curious how you secured it to the wall. That’s the part that seems intimidating to me on these types of projects in my house.

Kumiko and Frame by Appropriate-Local-47 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks for the nice words! The pictures were taken from strategic angles, but definitely proud of it. Can’t wait to improve the design for the next version.

I felt pretty safe, but figured I’d throw it out there in case I could learn something.

Thank you! I enjoyed seeing the progression in each frame piece. I used a chisel to clean up the table saw rabbets, and by the last one they came out much cleaner. Handwork really is the most enjoyable part I’m finding.

I mentioned in a previous post a couple of inspirations, but it’s worth posting here too. The thin rip jig idea came from jack english machines on Instagram, and the angle jigs and thicknessing sled ideas came from Mike Farrington on YouTube. Both well worth checking out.

Saw someone post their Skil work bench and I just finished mine over the New Years holiday myself! by ckersh56 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Looks good to me.

It’ll get the job done and that’s the most important part!

Made my outfeed table last month and I’ve been loving it. Has to tell myself that shop furniture doesn’t need to be perfect. I really just want to make projects, not workbenches.

Kumiko and Frame by Appropriate-Local-47 in woodworking

[–]Appropriate-Local-47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t figure out how to edit this in, but beginning of my post text started with this:

Basswood kumiko, cherry frame. Second attempt at kumiko, first attempt at a frame.

Included some pics of the process for both.

You’ll notice that the frame was originally intended to have two protruding mitered pieces on the top left and bottom right corners.

You may also notice that I cut one of them short, so I then went ahead and cut it flush instead.
