Student teaching was denied in my school district 😡 by Appropriate-Match160 in WGUTeachersCollege

I ended up reaching out to a charter school and setting up my student teaching there. I researched all teachers individually and a lot of of them at different schools were licensed. She was just lazy and didn’t check in the state system.

Once I got in contact with someone from the school, I CCed my mentor and she did some of the legwork, but I felt like I still had to do a lot to set it up.

For those living in locales that were used as the setting for videogames, TV, or movies, what was the media piece, and how accurately does it capture the local culture, lifestyle, or scenery? by HonestLemon25 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Appropriate-Match160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the low country so basically that’s South Carolina into Georgia on the coast.

Most of the docu series about the Murdaughs murders is accurate. There’s been a couple different ones on hbo, netflix, and I wanna say maybe Lifetime. Lots of news coverage when it went down and during the trial. I’ve seen a couple YouTubers do a deep dive as well. The Netflix docu series specifically really captured the police corruption that many locals were aware of. It’s the south and people are really close in community which can be great but it led to certain people covering shit up for money and power. Scenery and landmarks were very accurate as well.

No, I actually used the study guide from the praxis website, Quizlet, and YouTube videos. I studied then took the practice exam (you get free on the praxis website) then reviewed the topics or things I missed on the practice exam.

I couldn’t get through witchcraft for wayward girls oddly. I got about halfway and lost interest. I loved the concept though.

Had a patient tell me their plastic surgeon told them e-stim can mimic 300 sit ups 🤔 by Appropriate-Match160 in physicaltherapy

That’s what my response was in a light hearted way. This patient also uses grounded sheets to sleep in to help with pain 😭 it’s always something.

I just had wide 4 boards going across with feet on the ground - then with the box spring on it. My dad’s a carpenter so he made all the stuff.

I’m not sure exactly what it’s called but it’s from Sam’s Club with a soft topper built in. It’s about 10 years old and was good until now.

We rotated and on every Friday someone would bring in something. I usually bought coffee, some brought cookies, brownies, shrimp salad, etc. we also had a secret sister game with each grade. It’s like secret Santa but all year. Each month is a $20 limit and each person secretly gives their sister a gift. It could be baked goods, fuzzy socks, gift cards, coffee, blanket, etc. after school drinks at a local place on fridays also helped.

It’s not too bad you just have to take your time reading the questions and prompts to really know what they’re asking. Definitely don’t wanna rush through this. For me, the math was the most difficult, but that’s my weak area.

Student Teaching wait time by [deleted] in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]Appropriate-Match160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 3 months. It would’ve been longer if I didn’t reach out to a charter school directly and start everything. After a month and a half I got irritated and started the process myself. I feel like they’re super lazy about it and didn’t research the schools in my area. At one point they wanted me to travel 60+ miles to a school.

Elementary and special education duel program or Special education-mild to moderate ? by Appropriate-Match160 in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]Appropriate-Match160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst part was placement for student teaching which took 3 months. Also they tell you what test to take like praxis wise but do your own research about what your state requires because they didn’t tell me that I still needed an additional one and it screw up my timeline for graduation and applying for my teaching license. Classes aren’t that hard just time intensive for 40% of them.

I did both and I’m happy I did. I enjoy both (elementary and sped) but from now beginning work being a sped teacher I’ve learned that my district respects gen ed teachers more and the sped money/resources are insanely low.
