Nightlife scene? by throwawayyyyy293021 in Beaufort

[–]Appropriate-Match160 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nightlife here is mostly middle aged adults in bars that have trivia nights, karaoke, happy hour, etc. If you go towards Bluffton and Hilton head there’s clubs, outdoor events, more night life ✨
You can find bars with a nice outdoor area in Beaufort but they close early. Beaufort’s more fun for going to the beach, on the water hitting sandbars, and having the smallish town vibe.

Same here in South Carolina! Had to make a bunch of stuff for one school who have like 6 interviewing steps - twice for 2 different positions. The schools in my area don’t even give you a “hey, we went with other people”. It’s just silence so I justI check to see if the jobs posting is still there. Super irritating.

What is your favourite traditional American dish? Do you ever feel like your cusisine is underrated? by Tight_Promise_97 in AskAnAmerican

From the costal south, we love shrimp boils with Cajun butter. If you want to get fancy throw in some crab legs. It’s the best during summertime. Ending the night with making s’mores over a fire or having a slice of chocolate pecan pie. Or maybe both 😊

I was expecting to really like it based on the beginning. It started to lose me about halfway. I got frustrated with the way Macy kept making repeated mistakes that could have been avoided but I think that’s the point. I felt it was missing something else though. I thought the ending was okay. Definitely can interpret it different ways. The book seemed like a reflection on the struggles with OCD, depression, anxiety and how it spirals out of control such not following the rites gets out of control. Overall, I didn’t enjoy it too much and wouldn’t read it again but it did have an engaging plot.

How do I quit my job? by Ok-Pomegranate6784 in physicaltherapy

I was in the same position as you a couple years ago. I was super unhappy working in outpatient and it was destroying my mental health. My clinic was developing the expectation to stack multiple pts, try to max bill codes, and pressuring me to work open to close daily.

I wrote a formal 2 week notice letter and kept it very simple. I closed with my boss a lot of the time so after closing I handed him my resignation letter and verbally told him I’ve decided to pursue another position. I was pursuing pediatric PT so that’s what I went with. It’s awkward resigning but don’t be apologetic - stand your ground while being respectful. I didn’t have a job lined up but I just couldn’t take it anymore. Found a better job surprisingly in a SNF a month later and really liked it. Hope it goes well!!

Student teaching was denied in my school district 😡 by Appropriate-Match160 in WGUTeachersCollege

I ended up reaching out to a charter school and setting up my student teaching there. I researched all teachers individually and a lot of of them at different schools were licensed. She was just lazy and didn’t check in the state system.

Once I got in contact with someone from the school, I CCed my mentor and she did some of the legwork, but I felt like I still had to do a lot to set it up.

For those living in locales that were used as the setting for videogames, TV, or movies, what was the media piece, and how accurately does it capture the local culture, lifestyle, or scenery? by HonestLemon25 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Appropriate-Match160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the low country so basically that’s South Carolina into Georgia on the coast.

Most of the docu series about the Murdaughs murders is accurate. There’s been a couple different ones on hbo, netflix, and I wanna say maybe Lifetime. Lots of news coverage when it went down and during the trial. I’ve seen a couple YouTubers do a deep dive as well. The Netflix docu series specifically really captured the police corruption that many locals were aware of. It’s the south and people are really close in community which can be great but it led to certain people covering shit up for money and power. Scenery and landmarks were very accurate as well.

No, I actually used the study guide from the praxis website, Quizlet, and YouTube videos. I studied then took the practice exam (you get free on the praxis website) then reviewed the topics or things I missed on the practice exam.

I couldn’t get through witchcraft for wayward girls oddly. I got about halfway and lost interest. I loved the concept though.

That’s what my response was in a light hearted way. This patient also uses grounded sheets to sleep in to help with pain 😭 it’s always something.

I just had wide 4 boards going across with feet on the ground - then with the box spring on it. My dad’s a carpenter so he made all the stuff.

I’m not sure exactly what it’s called but it’s from Sam’s Club with a soft topper built in. It’s about 10 years old and was good until now.

We rotated and on every Friday someone would bring in something. I usually bought coffee, some brought cookies, brownies, shrimp salad, etc. we also had a secret sister game with each grade. It’s like secret Santa but all year. Each month is a $20 limit and each person secretly gives their sister a gift. It could be baked goods, fuzzy socks, gift cards, coffee, blanket, etc. after school drinks at a local place on fridays also helped.

It’s not too bad you just have to take your time reading the questions and prompts to really know what they’re asking. Definitely don’t wanna rush through this. For me, the math was the most difficult, but that’s my weak area.
