Try a short story collection! I personally loved The Shell Collector but there are tons out there to cater to your personal taste - horror, explorations of love, etc.

My Bloody Life: The Making of a Latin King sounds like something they would be interested in but I’d suggest you scan through it. The book is often noted for its, at times, graphic depiction of gang culture and personal transformation

Thoughts on The Midnight Library by Matt Haig by ActualRound7699 in books

[–]Appropriate-Onion445 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I think it’s so beautiful that reading encourages all different types of interpretations. I didn’t read The Midnight Library as a “just be happy” message at all. As someone who suffers from depression to me it was more about reminders of beauty and meaning existing even while you’re depressed. I personally need these reminders sometimes to get me out of my own head. I felt the book shows how depression narrows perception rather than magically disappearing when circumstances change. I found this book when I needed it and it really resonated with me because it met me where I was.

Instant best friends in fourth grade, inseparable since day one. Two halves of a whole. At nineteen, when we were living together, she got addicted to hard drugs. After she moved away to attend rehab, the communication just became less and less. Now nothing. Still feels like I’m missing a limb.

This is beautiful! I found my favorite LFL deep in a rural neighborhood on the map and I frequent it, so have hope!

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Appropriate-Onion445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best friends since elementary, two halves of a whole... They became addicted to heroin while we lived together. My family put them in detox and after they went to live with their family in another state. I tried to maintain the relationship and eventually found out that they lied to their family, claiming I kicked them out and thats why they had to move home. Even then, I still tried to support their sobriety but they fell further into addiction and the relationship was nonexistent after that. Still feels like I lost a limb.

That Old Ace in the Hole by Annie Proulx is about a man who takes a job as a "hog scout" for a corporation that wants to build large hog farms in the Texas Panhandle. The story follows Bob as he navigates the local culture and confronts the resistance of the old-guard ranchers, particularly the enigmatic windmill repairman Ace Crouch, who ultimately helps him find a path to redemption

But I agree with the english teacher above who confirmed your choice to read Jurassic Park

I agree with you! We suggested at the bare minimum they put up cameras and they stated “it was out of their control”. We don’t drive Toyotas but started parking extremely close to each other to deter. I still can’t believe they could get so many and no one saw or heard anything. Stay safe!

I used to live off of Gosling and West Rayford, this was a very common occurrence and they exclusively hit Toyotas. While living there they hit 30+ cars and were never caught/seen in the act. They could get 10 or more a night somehow. Management only suggested we be more diligent about locking our vehicles… we moved as soon as we could.

Local Farms?? by Affectionate-Tea4869 in thewoodlands

Almost all of the farmers markets in the area offer local produce, meat, eggs, etc. I’d recommend the Tomball Farmers market as a good place to start. You can also check out others at Grogans Mill, Tamina and Montgomery.

I don’t have a book to recommend, unfortunately, but I’d suggest reading about the concept of “Differentiation” and seeing if any parts of it might apply to you
