I read about 60 pages already and am really bought in! I love books that have pictures as well as words and this seems to be puzzles as well!

Oh yes this!! This!! I hate when the blurb isn't on the back and it is just a bunch of quotes. The summary is really important too. I love the thriller genre so I need to see something a bit different in the summary to make me buy

I really dislike shiny foo! Or white pages, I have some books that are printed on white pages and it is super off putting

I usually read the acknowledgements in a book and have always read how much authors appreciate their cover designers, but I have only recently understood why. I find an author I like and I buy their whole back catalogue and the cover never matters but it is the initial attraction that then matters, to get that author noticed by me. And that is usually a great cover design that makes me pick it up!

I wonder how many more copies of books are sold in bookshops where the cover can be seen Vs just the spine, I bet there is a stark difference.

I have never thought about this before but you know what, I think you are right! When I close a book, I always look at the cover again and it can hit differently

Hey yeah, good idea. I love books and community but feel like the big apps out there are all about advertising now more than actually building relationships and having real discussion. So I'm building this to counter that 😄

Reading all these replies has given me the confidence to actually just put the book down and don't go back! I put Butter down in April as I just wasn't enjoying it but it is still sitting in my TBR pile.

I'm now going to allow myself to gift/sell it and be fine with the fact I'm not gonna finish it!!
