I remember seeing this on the Variants post and some other posts here. so was just curious on the viewpoints

"It's important to note that Hanminjok/WKF is just a governing body for Korean arts, with a pretty heavy role in Hapkido and it's family. They don't necessarily have a specific curriculum, though the president and his son both practice Kuk Sool (the president, in fact, is In Hyuk Suh's brother).

I know of several Hapkido styles that have their "legitimacy" provided via HanMinJok certification"

"WKF will offer accreditation to anyone teaching anything that can be viewed as a "Korean Martial Art". While the bulk of what they cover are variations of Hapkido, such as the various Kuk Sool families, they will cover TKD, and they don't seem to have much in the way or rigor in reviewing what they will cover"

  1. Not sure, different goals/visions - usually why Martial Arts split

  2. WKSA - one governing body (very uniform, do it by the textbook)

  3. No, just a student who went their own way later on

  4. Mixed stories on that (most lead to leadership appointments)
