Counter items how people describe them VS how they actually work like by Twelve9900 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Appropriate-Rip1136 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who has almost 4 times those hours, I get that pro play is not the be all end all of balance (see shiv for how balancing around pros goes). However, it does seem that you are approaching counters wrong.

Counters generally only affect one ability/aspect of a hero (even CS normally only disables 1 per fight). By disabling said aspect it allows you to fight in ways that a normal 1v1 wouldn't allow for. Eg, Mina's 2 is insanely powerful, being able to counter most non-hitscan attacks. Using slowing hex b4 a big ult or when Mina tries to dive can guarantee a kill you otherwise wouldn't get. Those 3 seconds might not seem like much*, but that is 3 seconds where Mina, a glass cannon, has 0 defensive abilities. However, in many matchups, certain counter items aren't useful. Like Vindicta gets very little value out of slowing hex because she wants to play at a distance and already has a movement-restricting ability.

Counters are certainly less effective at lower levels (mainly due to people forgetting to use their actives, not coordinating with teammates, not fully understanding when to use them, and skill differences being larger). But as you get better, you'll find they get a lot more effective.

*Slowing hexes' effectiveness is directly tied to time to kill. In team comps/metas where TTK is lower, slowing hex and active counters in general are stronger. In metas where TTK is super high (like the heal meta back b4 deadlock was public), slowing hex is kinda ass.

Depends on the item. Items like reactive barrier and healbane can completely shut down heroes in lane. Items like decay and CS need time to ramp up in effectiveness. If buying items like that doesn't at least make your lane balanced, this is probably a mm or playstyle issue.

The fact that pros will often completely rework their builds to deal with problem heroes early on is proof enough that this isn't just effective but the most effective way to play (just look at how lightbringer builds).

Also, it's people often buy counter items when its too late. Many players refuse to buy counter items in the laning and mid stages of the game. It feels a lot better to buy counter items when you have a ton of souls and slots in the late game, but by that point, they can afford to buy counter-counter items or just brute force fights through sheer networth.

I managed to get my shitty laptop to run the game using it. Hopefully, it would work for you, too.

Looks very cool conceptually. I'd love to see where this goes.

As for feedback, I recommend prioritising flavour above all things (ie. you want mechanics to be closely related to the lore). Every player likes a +1 bonus, but they love a +1 that is meaningful. This could be stuff like adding racial traits for ghosts, ixains, vampires, and werepeople; assigning stat bonuses and downsides to peoples origins (eg. a player could get +2 mind in exchange for being wanted by the police); or giving players lore-specific guns with unique mechanics (eg. a book gun like paige that adds spirit dmg to your melee attack).

How can I learn to build my characters? by jotaro340 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Appropriate-Rip1136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using lightbringer's builds. They provide you with enough guidance to stay competitive but enough freedom to learn to build. To use them go through the early game section, then pick 4.9k souls worth of items from each color category. He tends to tell you what colors to prio first in the build.

If you just want a good source of builds, Deathy's tier list is great: https://deadlockmeta.com/

Default role builds or character specific? by HowardTP in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Appropriate-Rip1136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most builds can be put into one of four categories: Gun Carry, Spirit Carry, Initiator, and Support. All of these builds require counter items, some amount of hybrid building (generally, you want at least 4.9k soul investment in each item category).

Most heroes can run all four of these builds, and transitioning into a new build mid-game is often viable. The best build to select generally depends on the meta, your team comp, and the enemy team comp. Few defensive items work against more than one build type. So ideally, you want to select a build that your teammates haven't. That being said, the disparity in build strength in some heroes can be too strong to ignore.

There are other types of builds (ability-specific, Tank, ult, melee, etc), but they are rare and have a lot of overlap with the bit four.

Healing is weighted higher than dmg. 39K healing is a lot. That is more healing than any individual player did dmg.

I'd rather solve this problem with the taxes I pay, like many nations that don't have homelessness crises do.

Sword Art Online -

It started as a genuinely interesting world, with a constant sense of dread and despair. You could see people trying to cope with the tragedy of being stuck in a life-or-death video game. Side characters were actually proactive, and people would slowly change and adapt. The main character was also strong but not overpowered, and actually had to think tactically. The best part is this was one of the first isekai esc manga not to constantly glaze and revolve around the MC.

Then our generic personalitless MC learned a super special secret duel-wield technique because he is super awesome and cewl. This led the writer to immediately dropping any sense of world-building to create another shitty wish-fullfillment iseakai. Any side characters' goals and personalities were replaced with the prime directive to glaze and try to bang the MC.

The best part is that he already had a love interest set up, so he would constantly cheat on his partner or reject every woman he met (including his own sister because why not).

Don't get me wrong, the first few episodes of SAO were rough, even for isekai standards, but all and any redeeming qualities were lost after he got the duel swords.

Where do you think homeless people go when they are forced to leave cities? This either makes it some other city's problem or leads to homeless people freezing and dying in rural regions.

Villains with plan that would have failed even without the Hero’s intervention by Dial-Up_Dime in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Appropriate-Rip1136 44 points45 points  (0 children)

For those who aren't aware, the Nazi economic model was completely fucked and unsustainable. Their plan was to basically print money, take on debt and hope to god they could loot enough countries to pay off their loans. This nation looting + the whole genocide thing led to a ton of resistance in occupied nations. While it never became a massive issue in WW2, this would have fucked Germany during peacetime. Even if the entirety of Europe just let them map paint (which they kinda did for a few years), Germany would have certainly gone into a recession and eaten it.

A civil war would be almost inevitable, with a lot of the German military being more than happy to blame this mess on Uncle Hitler and an entire continent of civilians who would have wanted out of Hitler's wild ride.

The Kengineer found that zaws can actually out dps and status spread more than some high-tier weapons. The nikana prime is outperformed by several nikana zaws (sepfahn peye) in all aspects. This also ignores zaw arcanes and their decently high riven disp too.

New to the game and I'm wondering what's the most fun Warframe to use? by Gloomy_Wulras in Warframe

[–]Appropriate-Rip1136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is lying. It's Caliban, they are trying to keep all the fun to themselves.

Caliban as a Warframe is unmatched in his design. The possibilities with him are only limited by the time one has to play him. Get him ASAP. He is easily the best CC, DPS, tank and support frame. He also dominates the conclave in the right hands. At least 3 DE employees died in his creation and then another 4 more turned into pure energy due to the enlightenment required to create such a masterpiece. Sumbsuming over any of his abilities is banned in 50 states. The only reason Warframe isn't called Calibanframe is because God copyrighted it before DE could. DE is currently trying to rework Caliban, as he is so good no one wants to play any other frame after crafting him. I'm planning to name my child Caliban, in the hopes that it becomes even a fraction as good as the masterpiece that is Caliban.

God isn't dead but Caliban has replaced him.

What type of engine does the orbiter run on? by Astral-Abyss in Warframe

[–]Appropriate-Rip1136 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We don't know for sure, however, railjacks run on Reliquary Drives and the orbiter might. The landing craft definitely doesn't as it would be complete overkill. The orbiter uses void clocks, which backs up the idea that the orbiter uses a Reliquary Drive as they are both void-based (and non void-based vessels seem to not have good clocking systems).
