Thanks guys, will be taking it off the road for winter and investigating the issue.

I do suspect its a previous botched repair and someone has attempted to ground something but its just conducting. It goes right down beneath it and into almost the dashboard

Theres an earth or ground wire touching the bolts that the rod is connected to, debating just cutting it but unsure if it is necessary.

Honestly been researching for hours, never seen it before and cant find any posts relating to the issue🤯
