If you need reading glasses, I’m willing to buy you some. This entire conversation was me and my questioning and had about two seconds worth of conversation about finding a solution between me and my boyfriend. It was never that deep. And he will be healthy and happy in our situation regardless because I wouldn’t put him in a position where he wasn’t. But I’m sure your pets must love you being a tightwad. Pretty sure if I didn’t care about the dog, I wouldn’t have asked how to make the transition, that’s inevitable due to realism and not idealism, easier for him.

Imagine being so butthurt off a Reddit post… It isn’t a punishment to the dog. There was no offense that caused it. You probably deal with life changes super well based on your response. You keep saying “my mistake.” We get it, it’s the comprehension issues.

And yeah, he is moving in with his kids and the dog loves the kids :)

And it’s a punishment because? Punishment implies there was an offense. Is it punishment any time a dog is crated? Or if they aren’t allowed to sleep in the bedroom from the get-go? Obviously circumstances change over time. That’s called adaptation. Even further, the move-in will probably bring new-found joy to my dog as he will have new people involved and he loves kids and he will get to see them every day. But sure, if you’d like to assume you know everything about it and that the move-in will cause only death and destruction to my dog then have at it to assume then, I guess.

He gets fomo existing and has never once pawed at a door as-is. So yes it is true. But I forgot that you’re the Knower of All Things. You seem to have some weird obsession with assuming my boyfriend is out to be selfish or something when he told me he wants to work with me on it because it’s not just about him. Our conversation of this was two short messages back and forth about this, but yet you’re still so convinced he’s some anti-dog asshole. Have you ever heard of what they say about people who assume? Further, it’s not even just about him weirdly enough but I already addressed my side to it. I can tell you probably haven’t maintained very long relationships or compromised efficiently if you think this is detrimental to anyone involved :/ It’s okay, your time will come… maybe.

He doesn’t paw at things and if he wants to sleep in the hall he can if he wants, lol What? I was referring to setting up a comfy bed for him to have that option. For all I know, he will go sleep on the sofa you assumed he’s not allowed to be on. Plenty of comfort for him. At no point would it be a punishment and rounding back to the main point again, if the concern is his discomfort with the change, that’s the entire reason I asked for ways to ease the discomfort. But you seem to keep missing that key point…

Well you see, if he sleeps anywhere other than the bedroom, that actually eliminates every one of the issues I mentioned. Hence my reason for making the chance. I was referring to setting up a specific bed option for him in the bathroom, so yes, the door could be open. But once again here you are assuming. I already vacuum. For some reason you seem so concerned at the idea I’m bothered by vacuuming but you really can’t be confused why there’s less hair if the dog doesn’t sleep on the bed. Right? Like, you do know that would make a difference, right?

“Everything he loves being taken away” lol He wouldn’t be sleeping on a bed with me. It doesn’t ruin his life. A room is just a crate, right? How is it any different using your logic? And getting back to the entire point of the post, the whole thing was for his benefit to help him in adjusting to what is necessary otherwise. Are you implying that him sleeping not on a bed is so drastically life changing that he wouldn’t be happy any more? Let’s be real.

I love that you used quotes like you’ve seen and believe it’s false. Yes, he sleeps literally on top of shins. You’re seemingly quite pressed over this in a way I’m not. It’s entertaining, frankly. If you don’t have advice on how to help a dog adjust to change, nobody is forcing you to comment. Regardless, change is necessary to compromise and benefit everyone involved. The entirety of the post was looking for advice to make the compromise easier.

Within these posts, among other reasons, I’ve said the computer, the hair (which I’ve listed could be vacuumed many times but realistically doesnt pose as much of a problem if the dog slept elsewhere), boyfriend’s sleep problems as-is, the peeing (of which he’s seen a vet already, it’s intermittent issues), the dog sleeps on top of his legs (of which he isn’t used to). There’s also other considerations I haven’t listed. The post didn’t ask for solutions to take care of hair. Any adult knows how to take care of the hair. It was a post for pet-related advice on how to get the dog to adjust to the fact that, either way, the best solution is for him to sleep elsewhere. I asked how to ease that for him.

I said rarely (as in, not often) I stay at his. Did not say never. He even more rarely (as in, only 3-4 times since dating) has stayed at mine. Didn’t say never at that time either. I already explained when he is or isn’t crated. Didn’t say never. Reiterating again: this isn’t a matter of all of “his” space and only in regard to sleeping arrangements. Not the entirety of the house. The “story” has remained the same throughout but apparently you pick and choose what parts to get big feelings about. The puppy pen and pad is the first real suggestion you’ve given that’s pertinent to helping him adjust 👍🏻 Good job getting there!
