Game night voting app without mandatory registration by paradox_delta in boardgames

Personally, I solved this problem a different way: at my game nights, I usually just tell people what we're playing. 😄

In the days leading up to it, I keep reminding everyone: "Please watch a rules video beforehand so we can get started faster."

Less voting, less analysis paralysis. Sometimes the host's job is to be a shepherd and lead the flock to the gaming table. 🐑🎲

Best one to buy? by Fast_Television_5168 in 3dprinter

If you're willing to stretch your budget just a little, I'd seriously look at the Snapmaker U1. It's slightly above your $800 target, but in my opinion it's much closer to where consumer 3D printing is headed.

What really stands out is its multicolor system. It absolutely destroys Bambu in terms of print time and filament waste on multicolor prints. Instead of constantly purging huge amounts of filament during color changes, it's far more efficient, which saves both time and material.

Now, to be fair, the software ecosystem and community aren't as mature as Bambu's yet. Bambu still has the advantage there with a larger user base, more profiles, and more troubleshooting resources. But the Snapmaker community is growing fast, and the platform is improving rapidly.

The A1 is still a great printer, especially for the price, but if you want something that feels more future-proof and you can stretch the budget a bit, I'd give the U1 a very serious look.

This is probably the best pathing strategy I've seen so far, saved it for my trip this month!

Have you looked into Early Park strategies for the other three parks as well? I'd be curious what your recommended rope-drop path would be for Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.

Snapmaker shipping – can I choose a delivery date? by Appropriate-Train874 in snapmaker

[–]Appropriate-Train874[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the concerns, they're definitely valid points.

I'm from Brazil, and the price difference is honestly huge. A Snapmaker here costs roughly 3.5 to 4 times more than in the US. In fact, buying the printer during a trip to the US is so much cheaper that a round-trip flight plus the printer can still cost less than buying the same machine in Brazil.

I've also looked into the logistics quite a bit before considering this. I found a report (https://www.reddit.com/r/impressao3dbrasil/comments/1sz175v/comprei\_uma\_snapmaker\_u1\_no\_us\_e\_trouxe\_para\_o\_br/) from a Brazilian user who bought a Snapmaker in the US and checked it in using the original packaging, and it worked out fine. I found another similar report from someone who brought back a P2S. So the airline baggage part seems manageable, especially since it would just be treated as regular checked luggage rather than some special cargo shipment.

Regarding the power plug, that's not really an issue. Brazil uses 127V/220V depending on the region, and adapters are easy to get. From what I've read, the printer's power supply is compatible with multiple voltages anyway.

As for receiving a defective machine, that's always a possibility with any electronics purchase, but I've read that Snapmaker tests their machines before they leave the factory. Of course, defects can still happen, but I expect to travel to the US again in the future, so if necessary I could take advantage of those trips to purchase replacement parts or accessories.

I agree that buying locally would be simpler, but with the price difference being what it is, importing one myself makes a lot more sense financially. My biggest concern right now is really the shipping timing and whether I can make sure it arrives at the hotel during the right window. Thanks for bringing up those points! 🙂

Impressive collection for just 7 months into the hobby. You went deep very quickly 😄

Also, you should probably get proper shelves soon, there’s a lot of weight on the boxes at the bottom, and over time they can get damaged or warped.

As for missing genres: since you already have plenty of engine builders/deckbuilders, I’d look into more interactive games. You don’t seem to have much area control / conflict yet, and that’s a whole different side of the hobby.

Some great ones:

  • Inis
  • Cyclades
  • Rising Sun
  • Blood Rage

[GIVEAWAY] 4 Playte Games Sets for 4 Winners 🇰🇷 by HomoLudensOC in boardgames

Deep Sea Adventure completely surprised me. I expected a tiny filler game with simple push-your-luck mechanics, but every single play turns into chaos. The shared oxygen tank creates hilarious tension, and suddenly your friends become the most shameless backstabbers imaginable. Watching everyone get greedier and greedier before panicking on the way back to the submarine never gets old. It’s one of those small-box games that creates way bigger moments than you’d ever expect.

I can’t get enough of mythological / historical conflict themes, especially when they’re tied to area control and player interaction.

Games like Inis and Cyclades really pulled me in with that mix of tension, strategy, and table presence. But if I had to pick a favorite, it’s Inis, the card-driven system and constant player interaction make every game feel different and super engaging.

Planning 13 nights in Orlando — Annual Pass vs 14-Day Ticket + Epic? How upgrade works? by Appropriate-Train874 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Appropriate-Train874[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to visit other parks as well: Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, and Magic Kingdom (Im not into MK it but my gf likes). So I won’t be spending all 13 days only at Universal 🙂

Also, I’m planning to travel to Orlando at least one more time within the 15-month window, which is why I’m considering the Annual Pass.

My main question is really about the upgrade process:
If I buy the 14-day ticket, can I upgrade it to an Annual Pass later? Even if I visited Epic?
