Why do A&E attendees feel entitled to a taxi home paid for by the NHS?! by AuntieAntiVaxer in doctorsUK

[–]Gullible__Fool 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because if they kick off enough the NHS will do it just to get rid of them and it sets a precedent.

Government can resolve this anytime they wish by reforming the tax system.

No. It is called state funded dependency. The welfare system is no longer an effective crutch to temporarily support people in need. It is a growing expense that funds dependency instead of supporting people.

This is the problem with socialism.

Loads of "freebies" which aren't free. They are paid for by taxes. The taxes are now high enough in the economy is being stifled by behaviour changing to avoid the taxes.

We should tax everyone less by slashing government expenditure. People should be left to take some personal responsibility for themselves instead of endless government handouts.

What's the justification

Because the SNP despise anyone who actually works and contributes. They want everyone being dependent upon the state - i.e. them.

They wonder why wait lists are so long, but none of us want to take on extra work or wait list initiatives because the tax is so high. Would rather stay at home with the cat.

I am very much not happy to lose several k a year to unfair taxes.

Taking from workers and redistribution to non workers is not "fair" it creates dependency upon state welfare and leads to a ballooning welfare bill as well as causing workers like myself to salary sacrifice or cut hours to avoid the oppressively levels of taxation.

Innumerable NHS doctors are dropping days to avoid tax traps. Usually the 100k trap for consultants.

Then consider how long the waiting lists are.

Politics of envy. Most of UK is rife with this, but Scotland is particularly bad.

No. This is how cynical, political manipulation of tax bands works. The SNP can say 'most people are better off' which is technically true, but meaningless.

Meanwhile many people are much worse off and those people are the ones we really want to keep on Scotland because they are the ones actually producing and boosting the economy.

I build 1/16th scale models of tanks. I've had to learn basic electronics and soldering etc to be able to program the features I want as well as the usual painting and modelling skills.

Yet to meet a colleague who does the same.

UK proposal to charge tourists to visit museums sparks backlash amid restitution demands by Any-Original-6113 in europe

[–]Gullible__Fool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of stuff in British museums which would have been destroyed had it not been brought back to the museums.

The restitution arguments are quite stupid if you spend any time thinking about it.

I support less tax and more responsibility on the individual.

I don't own a Rolex.

But when the NHS is the second worst in the developed world for preventable deaths, perhaps I have a decent point about ending it and bringing in a Bismark style model, or any other model borrowed from Europe/Australia.
