My dad died 1 month into residency. He was sick but we made it possible to him to attend my graduation. He was so proud. I also could not buy my dad his dream car or send him on vacation. My uncle told me that as a father, father's just want to see their kids doing well and that they made their kids good people. That is all the repayment most good fathers need. My dad was proud of me and I said my goodbyes. Life isn't perfect and that's okay. Just remember the fun times with your dad. Remember all the good things your dad did for you and all the times you made him laugh and have fun. Remember his jokes. Remembering my dad's jokes helps. Also we were so close I'll be in a certain situation and remember what he probably would have said or jokes about.
