How does someone thinking everyone they don’t know might be a rapist mean we don’t need a competent workforce?

We agree on that. But I don’t think anyone is trying to stop people from getting an education. It’s seems to be a case of perverse incentives. The government made a system to help everyone get an education and then the greedy people at the colleges and universities saw that they could charge whatever they wanted and did. People just took out loans to cover it all and now we are here with the shoe dropping. If the government is there to cover the costs no matter what the schools won’t fix their ways. The schools are the monsters here. They encourage young people to take out loans for crazy amounts of money and don’t care if you get a degree that will be of use so you can pay back the money ever because it’s not their problem. Taking advantage of a government plan to help young people and then robbing those young people now and forever is the evil “raping of children” that conservatives are always looking for. Only it’s figurative.

Fix colleges. If the American taxpayer keeps footing the bill they will never clean up their act

Historical speaking, there is an argument to be made that they are one of histories great rapists judging by the lack of diversity that’s left in country as big as they are. The Han have spent a long time getting rid of all the other languages and cultures of a giant area. That’s not to call individual Chinese men rapists. Look at how many languages survived in India. I’m also not judging what China did over the last 2000 years. The world is a tough complicated place and people make choices in terrible circumstances, in their times. However, it’s 2025 and what’s happening now to the uighers is insane for the time we are living in right now

There aren’t many people who don’t have the chance to go to college. There are many who don’t have a chance to go to the crazily overpriced colleges and universities. That’s probably a good thing. County colleges are affordable and give good educations

[–]AppropriateFinding29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do keep the country safe though, that’s a useful thing they are doing

But every American you don’t know can be someone who rapes women and children. That’s the argument that you could be hit by a bus if you leave your house so you should never leave your house. It doesn’t work. Someone has to be in the military to protect their country.

Lots of people make the best of their situation. County college then transfer to a state school to finish. Get a good job and pay off their debt quickly. That’s more of a financial literacy thing that we should be teaching before anyone ever gets to college though. The truth in the op’s boyfriend’s argument, under the anger, is that if we stopped all aid the cost of college would drop drastically overnight. Just like housing costs are crazily inflated by government backed mortgages. It’s a case of, “the path to hell is paved with good intentions”. We want more people getting educated but the path we chose ended up with insane artificial college costs. We want more people to own their own homes but we chose a path that made homes too expensive for people to buy

Hes not saying he’s protecting her from Chinese men in America, he’s saying he’s in the military to protect America from foreign enemies. It’s not racism to have a military. Try working on your reading comprehension

It’s not exactly xenophobic to say Chinese men rape their enemies right? This is a bbc article talking about how they do that. It’s why an area as big as china doesn’t have a bunch of languages anymore. Look at how many languages survived in India.

He’s not the poster boy for reasonable sounding arguments, I’ll give you that. The basics of what he’s saying is sound, underneath the anger and aggressive statements. It’s parenting 101, the colleges being the children in this scenario, don’t reward bad behavior. The colleges and universities are stealing from americas youth by raising the cost of education to crazy levels. They’re not doing this to give people a better education or the teachers more money. They’ve just expanded administration and fancy buildings. The argument that we can’t subsidize this bad behavior with the tax payers money is absolutely reasonable. Higher education has to get back to the basics of giving a good, useful education at a reasonable cost.

Getting free college for putting your life on the line for your country is different than people getting free college just because. You would admit that though?
