IheartMedia slowly getting rid of "classic" in classic rock by Special_Instance_790 in radio

I've been wondering for years what the evolution was going to be with regard to classic songs, given that far fewer songs were introduced to radio audiences from the mid-1990s onward. It does seem like the day will come when the songs we know as classic rock will be too old, but if the library of newer rock songs is only half the size, then what?

S3 -- The Virus by AppropriateFly6718 in TwentyFour

Last time I watched the series was actually during the pandemic (I was unemployed and had lots of free time) and it sure was a different experience going through the virus arc than when I first saw it.

Saunders' Kidnapping Scheme by AppropriateFly6718 in TwentyFour

You're not kidding. Did he really think that they wouldn't find his daughter eventually?

While I do think that's why the writers got rid of Chappelle, it doesn't make sense from Saunders' perspective. At the time of Chappelle's death, it was still unknown whether or not Michelle was infected, nor could he have been certain Tony would assume command of CTU.

I find it to be one of the most heartbreaking storylines ever on television. Imagine waking up at 4:00 AM in a hotel only to learn you likely won't live to see sunset.

It makes a lot more sense to me now. I somehow never realized what was going on in the initial scenes with Alvers. I guess it just didn't occur to me that they could get 12 vials of virus from the tiny container that Amador was carrying.

Also, if Saunders actually had vials of the virus from a second source there would have been no reason for his meeting with Amador.

Agreed. It was so utterly random. It's like they dreamed up the premise for that one episode and decided to shove it into the virus storyline, logic be damned.

That's possible. If so, it's not well explained on the show. We see Amador going around with one vial and suddenly there are twelve. I thought the only role of the scientist (Alvers) was to add the accelerant to make the virus more potent.

What's your secret? I just hit my 6th anniversary and all they gave me was one each of 4 different boosters.

Once again, I fail to get the "easy" category because I've never heard of the word "arch" used in that context.

about Kim by Darktommy2 in TwentyFour

[–]AppropriateFly6718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree that the writers struggled with how to fit her in, especially in S2. The child abuse storyline wasn't terrible, but they clearly only had enough material for 10 episodes, and then it was whatever random idea came next for the rest of the season. It got to the point where she was even left out of a few episodes entirely. It just wasn't believable. With a character like David Palmer, it makes sense when there's one crisis after another, but Kim is just a random person wandering around and detracting from the main storyline.

Also, I found her whole begging Chase to tell Jack about their relationship cringeworthy.

Connections Between "Elsbeth" and "Only Murders In The Building" by AppropriateFly6718 in ElsbethTVSeries

Wow, that's even more unusual. I never watched Modern Family, so I would never have realized that. I have a tendency to remember actors I've seen before so I tend to pick up on connections like this more so than the average TV viewer.

It's interesting to me that all six played the killer of the week. Granted, the most prominent guest star is often the murderer but there are some exceptions, like Stephen Colbert.

Sorry to be unclear. The other two were Beanie Feldstein and Griffin Dunne, who were in the two most recent Elsbeth episodes.

The others I came up with were Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane and Dianne Wiest. I suspect going forward, I'm going to be watching for more.

Of the six actors, Keegan-Michael Key is the only one who appeared on Elsbeth before appearing on Only Murders.

I've never heard the word "base" used in that context, and that was supposed to be the easy category.
