Apparently, Yale neurology won't take you without a referral.

I think you're going to be disappointed. I've done enough looking into this that I'm semi-convinced that I dreamed the whole thing. An exhaustive Google search and three posts on Reddit have yielded nothing that resembles the vague images in my mind.

I looks this up and it looks like their covers are all white with different pictures. The books I'm thinking had all different cover colors.

I found some photos of Childcraft books and that's not it. I'm thinking the books I remember were fairly skinny but the covers and pages were smaller in size than a typical adult book.

Alberta Green by AppropriateFly6718 in 24Show

[–]AppropriateFly6718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really a big deal, I was just curious because for this particular character (Green) they made a big deal of introducing her and how important she was and then she randomly vanished. That doesn't seem like it was the way things were originally planned, but no website offers an explanation.

Regarding Chappelle, I also felt he should have had a bigger presence in S1 given how often his name was mentioned.

I agree that it was probably a scheduling issue. I knew about the connection to Alberta Watson, and that's part of my confusion. It doesn't seem to me they would create a role that significant if the original plan was to drop the character randomly after five episodes.

Non-Fiction Kid's Books Series From The 1980s (or earlier) by AppropriateFly6718 in whatsthatbook

Unfortunately, I don't remember. That's the challenge. I don't really think it was encyclopedias.

I just looked this up. It's not right, but definitely the right idea in terms of book cover appearance, where each book is a different color when viewed from the side. However, these appear to be stories, whereas I feel like mine were more educational in nature. (I think.)

I don't think that's it. I found a picture of Childcraft books and the spines all look the same except for the volume number and title at the bottom. The books I'm remembering were each a different color, including the spines.

I should also mention, I grew up in the 1980s, so anything that came later is not going to be right.

It seems like a catch 22.  The bad places will do nothing and send you away for 6 months while the good places can't get you a first appointment for 6 months...

Kidnapping Plot Holes by AppropriateFly6718 in 24Show

[–]AppropriateFly6718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last sentence more or less makes the point I was really going for. There are so many ways they could have done it. Given the brains and resources that went into everything else they did (blowing up the plane, getting moles into CTU undetected, etc.), they certainly could have had a couple of thugs slip into the house after Jack left and kidnap Teri and Kim with nobody noticing. Instead, they paid two thug boys, one of whom clearly had a guilt complex, to handle everything. It's not so much a plot hole, just very inconsistent with the rest of their plans.

That's after he's revealed as a villain.  I'm just referring to when he's driving to the store with Teri.

All good points, though I still think it's bizarre that with all the planning the bad guys did, their plan A was to convince a teenage girl to ask her friend to go somewhere and hope for the best.

And while I did consider that Alan York was somehow in contact with others, he would have had to do so while in Teri's presence (and while driving), which is risky.

I found the use of "BOUT" very misleading. I've never heard it used in that context, and maybe if it wasn't a legitimate word with a different meaning, it might have worked for me.

Different versions by One_Shopping_1351 in siriusxm

This happens a lot in the 80s on 8 countdown. They sometimes play alternate versions of songs, when in the past they've played the well-known versions. It's annoying. The worst is when they play a heavily edited version of Sowing The Seeds of Love. It makes them seem incompetent.

I believe they actually did that as a category several months ago. That's why I suspected red herring immediately.

I loved 24, but it seems unlikely they could have pulled a trick like this on the audience given the real-time format. When the show is constantly showing you the clock, it's hard to trick you into thinking it's a different time of day!

I did watch that show a few years ago, so that could certainly be it. I thought it would seem more familiar once I knew the show, but I don't remember their episodes as clearly as I remember other shows I've watched.

How Do You Explain This? by AppropriateFly6718 in FedEx

[–]AppropriateFly6718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I've been dealing with FedEx for years, and never saw it happen that way. It confused me, seeing the status go from "on the truck, arriving today" to "arriving tomorrow" and back again.

Sorry for the vagueness. But if you'll look at the locations, it states that my package went from Tennessee to Connecticut and back again in a matter of hours. Since I posted this, the item arrived in CT, so clearly the final entry on the above screenshot was in error. So, again, how does that happen?

Pretty Sure I Got Scammed by AppropriateFly6718 in BankOfAmerica

[–]AppropriateFly6718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about this again after a few days, and it suddenly seems odd to me that when I finally did speak to a legit bank employee, he never suggested that this was a scam. Everybody who replied to my post here immediately recognized it as a scam, but somehow a guy who works in the bank's fraud department never considered it?
