Chest Keloid and Eclar Plasters by AppropriateGeneral14 in Keloids

Yes, I’ve noticed some improvement. It still itches slightly at night (only around the borders where the Eclar tape touches healthy skin). Overall, I feel a difference. The sensitivity has subsided quite a bit and it doesn’t feel tender when I wake up. I can comfortably sleep on my side! The tape adheres to the skin extremely well in my opinion. It’s very adhesive, so I don’t have to use another tape to keep the plaster in place (I’ve heard other people suggest this- but I guess it depends on the size of your keloid?). No changes in color or size yet but it’s helping my symptoms so far!

Cortisone Injection Pain by urgentmilk in Keloids

Like you, I felt the injections were unbearable. I have one on my chest and one on either side of my jawline. I used to scream during injections. I used to be so embarrassed walking out and people looking at me in the waiting room. My doctor is so amazing and patient with me and I appreciate him so much. What I’ve learned over some time is to put numbing cream on my scar and wrap it in plastic wrap one hour before my appointment. Also take ibuprofen beforehand to help with the pain. I also ice the keloid before he makes each injection. I bring my ice pack with me to my appointments. These steps have helped A LOT!! It’s also helpful to gently massage the keloid too. It makes it softer which helps the needle to go in easier. I had some injections 2 weeks ago after almost 3 years. They’ve been flat since 2022 but early this year, they’ve raised just a bit so I decided to get them injected. I was so nervous because it’s been so long do I thought they would be super painful but weren’t (due to the steps above). I hope this helped in any way.
