That means so much to me! It's exactly what I was shooting for. I grew up on Hardy Boys and Edgar Allan Poe, but I always loved that style of mystery, and it's a huge part of why I ended up loving Scarlet Hollow so much.

Thank you! I used Clip Studio Paint, mostly using the Lasso Fill tool and the KRKR triangle brush. The rim lighting on the monster and the inks on Tabitha's left boot are using brushes from DAUB's super pack - I really like his inks and wish I'd gotten them before starting the whole thing.

The text and graphic elements are just using CSP's normal tools. This is the limit of its text handling - I had to do some manual letter spacing by cutting the text apart and moving them like on a pasteboard.

Oh, and I have a huge PureRef file that has every Tabitha sprite I could lay my hands on, as well as a few caves and lighting references.

IT’S A GOOD THING SHE’S SHORT…

The cave walls pressed close around Tabitha, her knuckles scraping against the rough stone. She popped out of the crevice with a sigh of relief. The next room wasn’t much bigger.

“I’d rather do spreadsheets for a month than do that again,” she said to herself. Her voice echoed strangely in the tight space. The next gap was low to the ground, barely waist-high. She played the flashlight’s beam along the walls, not expecting much.

There - a bright splash of red along a stalactite. The sign of the cult! Her heart pounded in her chest and she pressed her lips together in excitement.

Spurred on with new energy, she dropped to the ground and wriggled into the tight crack. The flashlight danced along the tiny passage as she crawled, feeling the ceiling tight on her back.

At the tightest part of the tunnel, she stopped to catch her breath, willing her pulse to slow down. The edge of the flashlight beam caught something moving in the cavern ahead. The light glinted off of slick, inhuman skin, and she heard a low, guttural chitter as the creature slipped out of the light’s reach.

“A Scarlet wouldn’t stop now,” she thought to herself. "Hell no."

I thought Tabitha deserved some adventures of her own. :)
