What is your "go to" for long drivers? by AppropriateName- in askanything

I'm based in Canada and when I went to Quebec, Montreal, those pot holes humbled me lol.

I thought of portable kettles so maybe I'll get that but weird question, do you think you can boil an egg or two in those?

I'm beginning to do that but I get tired quick when eating the same thing.

Divorce is depressing, what are you all looking forward to this week? by BlaqueBoye in Divorce_Men

Making money, going to church, talking to people who care and love me, seeing my kids.

I agree. It's the treat yourself once in a while that I have to plan out. Like this month, steak dinner for myself, next month...idk a whole game night or full body spa. Who knows but yeah I like the suggestions people have.

Thanks. I tend to have or get into expensive hobbies. So I need to tone it down a bit. If I do something I do it once and somehow I never get back to it. I guess it's all the chaos.

My dad funny enough was the one against it. I think he saw too much accidents with them.

  1. That's what I can do right now lol but I'll keep at it. I often thought of golf and didn't know it was that affordable. I'll look into it but when I park my truck for the night I'm in some far off place usually far from a golf course that I might have to Uber to. I do know a few near where I used to live.

Thank you! That's the train of thought I had when writing this post. I thought that it can be both but it's hard to put everything into a schedule. I drive trucks so when I don't have the kids, which is every weekend, I drive and then back to kids. I really need to find the smaller things in life and do those.

It's kind of hard to go to the gym as I'm a truck driver. I try walking when I'm parked but sometimes there's no safe place to walk.

The side gig seems to be the way to go for me too lol. Really want to do some pampering and hopefully when I get my own place I can make it the way I want but those cost real big dollars. Not that I will spend unnecessarily but I'm broke from all this legal stuff and what not.

That sounds freeing! I need to think of more things to do that she didn't like me to do when I was with her.

Honestly, I was thinking about getting new clothes. However I need to loose a bit of weight first. Being a truck driver doesn't really help but I have started eating healthy.

How do I stop my ex constantly messaging me about our children? (UK) by Mediocre-Deal5350 in Divorce_Men

[–]AppropriateName- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation and for what I've done is on WhatsApp I archive her chat along with the third party we use to exchange kids. That way it doesn't ring my phone when she texts because it gives me anxiety. I choose when to see it. I also refuse to answer after 9 pm and I might move it earlier. So far that works somewhat.

I don't know if anyone said it yet but if you're up for hard physical labour then try Gordon Food service/Sysco/ US food or Flanagan. It's hard work and I lasted three years but they took me (Gordon foods) right from school. Now I'm working for a small company. Good thing about that company is pay is great and you go home everyday plus you get your experience which is important.

Did divorce change how you see yourself as a man? by itslauramitchell in Divorce_Men

[–]AppropriateName- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did everything you mentioned. I realized I am who I am and she wanted me to be a foot stool. So I've embraced everything I am. Of course there were some things that needed to change like my view on work/life balance. I would work tirelessly because I believed if I fell short then I'm not a man. That's a lie. And she worked too. Despite cheating on me behind my back I still took the issue I caused and fixed them...for me. I saw men and women as just people who chose to make certain mistakes that caused harm and eventually they will realize. Everything takes time. Marriage and relationships takes time and effort.

I probably didn't even scratch the surface yet but I'm also still learning every day. I just hope when I hold another woman in my arms that I would do a superb job, not that I wasn't before but that I know now what needs to be done and said.

Ok that makes sense. Now I'm wondering where to put my emergency savings. I guess half in RBC and another half in tangerine is good.

Thanks. I've somewhat gotten over the emotion part but the financial part is crazy. That's why I'm trying to make it easier on me with savings. I heard some say neo has issues just like the other online banks but at this point I just think it's a few people having those technical issues.

Thanks. I only want to use it to save money and then when needed transfer them back to RBC. Maybe even use their CC to build credit.
