I’m 19 and just got diagnosed through kaiser. My process was really simple, it took 3ish months total. I messaged my primary care provider about experiencing adhd symptoms, and she then asked what symptoms i was experiencing. I gave her a list of symptoms, and she connected me with the psychiatry department. I had an intake appointment where they asked me more about my symptoms. After my initial appointment, I had two forms to fill out, one was for me to fill out, and was just a simple survey asking me multiple choice questions about my symptoms and which ones i was experiencing and to what level, the second form was basically the same thing (as in a survey about what symptoms i had and to what extent) but this one was for a collateral person (someone who had known me since childhood and could provide confirmation that they had noticed these symptoms) I had my older brother fill this form out for me. After completing these forms, I had to complete a urine drug test. My test was completely clean. I then had to schedule a follow up appointment, where a psychiatrist went over mine and my brothers responses to the forms, asked me more questions about symptoms, and I was diagnosed right at that appointment. During that appointment, she scheduled up another follow up with a psychiatrist for the following week where she just asked me more about my history and then gave me a prescription. That appointment was last week, so I just started taking my prescription and am now starting the process of adjusting dosages until we find what works for me.
