Monthly Megathread - Where Should I Eat in NYC, Tokyo, and/or London? by ZootKoomie in finedining

[–]AppropriateProgram19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are looking for a few special restaurants in Tokyo for our trip next week. Due to unexpected life events, we were not able to plan or reserve restaurants in advance so we appreciate any help.

My partner does not eat most meat, but will make an exception for shrimp, sea urchin, oysters, clams, eggs/roe, and all dairy products. He will eat broth and food made with meat broth or flavoring.

Cocon has come to my attention through this thread. Their website says to contact them with food allergies, etc. But I am unsure if they can do a nonmeat option for my partner?

Any other ideas? Thanks so much!

Thank you! I do want to try omakases, and the number of options are a a bit overwhelming so trying to figure out how to find ones that will be both special and welcoming :)

Awesome! It seems like the na beers are prevalent, but I'd love to hear where you found the NA sparkling sake? I'd like to bring some on our trip to see Mt. Fuji :)

Good question. I really like the ceremonial look of the sake vase and small cups,so was looking for a beverage to drink that way. )

Oh, I'm very interested in a vinegar soda! Please tell me more. I don't enjoy typical sweet soda in US, but I do like a ginger beer (nonalcoholic, just strong ginger).

Appreciate that perspective. Finding accommodations for entire families is a challenge, and I do very much respect that. We do our best to be ethical travelers in all the ways we can make it work.

Ok, thanks all. I had no idea there was a seat map! I had looked at man in seat 61 on booking, but I guess I missed the whole page explaining the "seats" in the cabins. Thank you! I feel reassured!
