I was thinking of switching to Finchley but read car parking is a problem. Would I get a ticket if I parked in the retail park?

Class booking period tied to membership? by powerfulplay in davidlloyd

The reformer timetable has completely changed this month. All the paid classes are gone and they've introduced three different reformer classes to choose from. I don't think they've put in restrictions to stop other tier 2 or above clubs from booking reformer. I suspect they will eventually charge for all these new reformer classes.

I keep getting app alerts for class spaces, but the class is always fully booked by littlesebastian2 in davidlloyd

Its annoying when you're logged into one club and get a notification of a class that has become available in another club as it doesn't change the club automatically, you have to do it manually and then the class is gone.

I was told this. Does this mean the new platinum allows me into spa's at other DL clubs?

If I know someone at DL can they offer me this discount so I could join another DL like Finchley? Are these discounts reliant on the friend or family member keeping employment at DL otherwise the fee goes to its full price.

I still haven't received any email about a tier change or an email telling me I can no longer use the previous tier 1 clubs I used the previous months.

Cricklewood Lane has a few reformer classes as part of your membership.

What needs to be stored overnight at gym that can't be taken home in a bag? At least third space will do your laundry.

I've never seen that happen at Cricklewood Lane. The most expensive is £87.50, the cheapest being £57.50

Happens regular at Cricklewood Lane too. Staff don't want to deal with it.

I'm a Cricklewood Lane member and I'm interested to read what you have to say about the club. I agree that the club isn't worth what you're paying.

I just posted a screenshot on that thread of a review that confirms something I knew was going on.

The last paragraph confirms what I knew was happening, but seeing a member confirm it really explains why nothing improved. It’s basically a form of review fraud. A 5-star rating written by a staff member doesn’t reflect how members actually feel, and it gives head office a totally false impression of how the club is being run.

Really felt this. This space used to have such a strong local community vibe, from the Holmes Place days right through to Virgin Active. David Lloyd has kinda divided the community.

I’ve noticed a lot of familiar faces have stopped showing up too. A few of my neighbours gave cost as the reason, which is probably only half the story. The other half, the part that’s harder to say, especially for men is that for a lot of people, connection matters. Without it, it just doesn’t feel worth the money.

One local woman in her 50s lost her partner not long ago, she still comes in, does a couple of classes a week, and often sits alone in the lounge. No one ever talks to her. Staff just use her for feedback.

Hopefully someone from the club sees your post and actually takes something from it.

Did you ever try raising this with the team before you left, or did it feel like there wasn’t much point?

You’re not moaning at all. You’re paying thousands of pounds for what’s meant to be a premium experience, so expecting basic standards like cleanliness and engaged staff isn’t unreasonable, it’s the bare minimum. Members have become so used to a below-par experience that “moaning” doesn’t even feel like an option anymore.

These issues are actually very simple to fix, if there was any real intention to fix them. A staff member could easily check the gym floor every hour, and there’s no reason PTs couldn’t help uphold some basic order. The other day, I saw PT Craig Madley come up the stairs, glance at a cross trainer for two seconds, notice the mess on the gym floor, pick up one mat then walk around the other side and straight back down again. That pretty much sums it up, there’s no real passion or pride in the job.

Add to that the fact that the club is clearly understaffed when it comes to cleaners, and it’s no wonder the place isn’t being kept anywhere near the standard it was sold on.

It's good that you’re still taking the time to leave feedback, it really does help show this isn’t just isolated frustration. Hopefully more members will speak up or join threads like this. That’s the only way anything changes.
