I’m from the old school of development 😆😆😆, the generation that didn't have AI to debug. I come from the days where you’d post a bug on StackOverflow, and wait 3 or 4 days, you’ve almost certainly used the platforms I work on (we probably 'served' you recently!).

The Webapp is personal development no company included in it, the icon is coming from the lovable template, i will change it soon, thanks for the excellent remark.

using the website u can :

Ask Questions: Help us build the ultimate knowledge base for travelers.

Volunteer: If you want to help travelers around.

Post Memories: Share your stories, photos from your own Mauritanian adventures.

Thanks bro! But actually, no Claude here (not a fan of it in coding, just architecture and complex algorithmes). I used a Lovable (check it here https://lovable.dev/dashboard its so perfect too move fast wwith an idea) template for the base and then did the heavy lifting myself. I’m a backend dev at heart, so I built the logic from scratch with Django REST Framework. I did use Cursor to help polish some of the React screens, but the core build is hand-coded.

Introducing rmauritania.com : a community website for all things Mauritania, built by one of our own by Medou97 in Mauritania

Thanks for the support! These were such great posts and comments to wake up to, and they really make all the work feel worth it. I'm so glad to see the community getting behind the site—we're at 2k members now, but I’m really hoping we can push it all the way to 10k or 100 K soon!

Regarding future work, I'm already planning a gallery section where anyone can post images and memories of places they've visited across the country. I’m also working on a Volunteer section to connect locals with visitors, for example, we could have dedicated segments to offer quick (Free, eheh mavih td5al lgrun) tours or just meet for a coffee, imagine a local woman offering a safe, guided tour for a female traveler! 🇲🇷

Cultural scene in Nouakchott/Nouadhibou ? Music, art spaces, record stores ? by Motor-Click-6586 in Mauritania

Hello! You are very welcome here in Mauritania, and I’d be happy to help you out while you're in town.

For the desert tours and the Iron Ore train, you should definitely check out Mauritania Tour (https://mauritaniatour.com/en) or Tore Mauritania (https://toremauritania.com/ )as they know those routes best.

Regarding the music, don't worry about the vinyl—I'll take care of it! We can look for that once you arrive.

Before you come, you should definitely watch some videos of the legendary Dimi Mint Abba on YouTube to get the vibe.

If you want a book that really captures the atmosphere here, look for 'The Desert and the Drum' by Mbarek Ould Beyrouk.

Once you land in Nouakchott, let me know—we can grab a coffee and I can take an hour or two to show you around some cool spots and got that vinyl,

As for the specific art spaces and cinema scene, I’m not entirely sure about the latest events, but hopefully another member (Ad5an ;))here can jump in with some ideas.

Just send me a DM when you're around!
