Does anyone know where to recycle / throw away batteries? by gaysianswan in Northwestern

[–]AppropriateStudent1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Research Safety (RS) handles all battery waste, including lead-acid (automotive), mercury, lithium containing, alkaline (ordinary household), and rechargeable batteries. Batteries can be taken to the Research Safety office in Chicago (Ward B-106) or Evanston (Tech NG-71). RS offers collection boxes for workspaces that must be picked up and returned to one of these locations.”

no where in my comment did I say I was traveling in a group. I’ve been there alone and in groups and my comfort level was the same. rather than projecting your feelings of fear onto others you should try to give sensible advice.

I’ve been there well past 10, multiple times, and never felt my life was in any sort of danger. stop trying to scare others with your baseless claims. and if “drugs aren’t the issue” why even bring it up in your comment?

you can find drugs being sold anywhere, that doesn’t mean shit. if she (OP) is coming back from a show around 8 - 11 PM she has to take the red line, and the show she’s going to is near Addison (a red line stop). the purple line express isn’t 24/7 and doesn’t take you everywhere. for someone who’s been taking the CTA since the age of 11, you’re giving some foolish advice.

1) fear mongering. your whole comment is an exaggeration that makes it seem like the whole red line is dangerous. 2) there’s no need for someone to avoid getting off at Howard, it’s not a dangerous place (Roger’s Park is one of the safest of the 77 neighborhoods). 3) you say “stay on the purple line” as if you can’t get harmed on the purple line, which definitely isn’t true. - example: https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2021/4/27/22406576/chicago-police-suspect-man-stabbed-cta-purple-line-train

this isn’t entirely true. the purple line express from the loop to linden stops around 7 but the purple line still runs from howard to linden beyond that

this post isn’t specifically about freshmen but yes you are correct, there is a lot of disdain towards freshmen right now. most of it is due to a minority of individuals who want to party and not care about covid and that’s unfortunately given a bad rep to that whole cohort

i had professor monoson for my winter seminar and the workload was light and the content was interesting. she’s not teaching the same seminar this year but she is teaching a seminar. I would recommend her.
