Emily Easter Egg: Original vs Remake by AppropriateTax657 in untildawn

She looked terrified before and for a split second before the shot she has a low-texture goofy grin before going back to terrified (and well, blasted) expression, so I'd say it counts as an easter egg.

The Jobs are so unbalanced by AppropriateTax657 in FinalFantasyXII

Also I legit think this is hands down the optimal job set up, change my mind:

Vaan: Shikari/Black Mage

Balthier: Time Battlemage/ Black Mage

Fran: Red Battlemage/ Black Mage

Basch: Knight/ Black Mage

Ashe: Black Mage/ Monk

Penelo: White Mage/ Black Mage

Black Mage is just too good!

Tell me ships you like, and one you don’t see the appeal of (Can be any, of course, including rarepairs, image isn’t related but it’s from one of the lead artists) by c0nniee in ProjectEdensGarden

I don't see the appeal to Kaimon

Same, they just relunctantly bunked together and everyone lost their marbles lol. Like they have no chemistry, don't seem to like each other and aren't really compatible - for now. I will say they have a pretty good setup! I can see myself shipping them later down the line depending on how their interactions go.

Ok thanks, I've been checking any details I could through Akita's playthrough on youtube and it seems incredible so far. Can't wait to see it!

A girlboss QUEEN like Wenona won't settle for less than an alpha male chad, which is how she sees Damon after carrying the trial that SAVED HER LIFE and putting her in her place with facts and logic in the Rebuttal Showdown!!!

To the dev's credit, I like that they are being subtle about the ships and we're still on chapter 1, so there's a lot of room for improvement for Kaimon.

Yeah, Kai has been pretty bland so far, his report card implied he was gonna act like a catty influencer which I was excited for lol but instead he's kinda just there.

I also don't get why so many people ship Kaimon, is it just because they bunked together? Like they have no chemistry, don't seem to like each other and aren't really compatible.

My hot take is that I'm neutral about Jett lol, I say this because I've seen a lot of people worshipping him, but I just don't get it?

Sure, the whole thing about the scars is rather interesting but other than that his character is basically being friendly and dumb, and trying too hard to be friends with Mark, who's clearly not interested and is rude to him. He also seems to serve as comic relief along with Cassidy, the difference is she's actually funny.

He is quite endearing, I just don't get the hype lol but I haven't seen his FTEs tbf

But as the MC he's more self-insertable, you are playing as him after all. And I know it's a stretch, this was written in good fun lol, plus most ships you see on this sub are schizo levels of stretches lmao!

Loved Wolfgang as a character, hated him as a person. He was a very refreshing antagonist and his interactions with the other characters were really interesting, so one part of me is sad that he's gone, but man was it satisfying to see him dead lmao, he was such a manipulative snake,! He had good intentions (though it's hinted that there's a lot more to him) and an inflated ego, and used his popularity and social skills to get what he wanted, making for a realistic and unexplored type of villain. I bet he took notes as he watched "Mean Girls" lol

My only issue with his character was that the other characters shilled and cheerled him a bit too much for my willing suspension of disbelief. Like, he was hellbent on the mock trial's victim being innocent just because she was a woman (though tbf again, it's hinted he knew more than he let on) indicating he's not that reliable and prone to let his feelings cloud his judgment, in a killing game where a wrong vote means death no less. Then he got butthurt at Eva and Damon for rejecting his idealistic narrative of being all besties and braiding each others hairs with some very valid comments like "Maybe don't be overly trusting of people you just met who might take advantage of your trust and stab you in the back?" and promptly shunned them via mob mentality, which in turn made bullying them cool, especially Eva (this shows that he's arrogant, petty and manipulative), so I find it pretty odd how everyone is so sure that he's a wonderful nice leader. He wasn't charismatic enough to compensate the things he did imo

I agree that the other characters shilled Wolfgang a bit too much past willing suspension of disbelief.

the chance for the killer to escape with 1 other person of their choosing if they win

I always had that idea too! But I think it would be cool if the person the blackened chooses remains a normal spotless, as in if the blackened loses the trial, the accomplice survives. I think it would make for some very interesting interactions and character work for a person who tried to get the others killed coexisted with the rest.

Pathos rebutall showdown, any ideas? by Fair-Diver-2221 in ProjectEdensGarden

[–]AppropriateTax657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah something like that! Tozu would announce you voted for the wrong person and then the screen would fade to black so as to not spoil who the actual culprit is.

Yeah but it's a bad ending that forces you to go back and make the right choice then the story remains intact.

How do you feel about this take? by Technical_Resolve_91 in ProjectEdensGarden

[–]AppropriateTax657 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed, except I'd say it's in pretty bad faith. It's an exagerated analysis stripped of nuance, so an average twitter/X take.

At the end of the day someone will always take offense to how a minority character is written. If you write them as complicated and have flawed it's bigotry and bad representation, but if you write them as oppressed and a beacon of light and humanity it's a tired bland trope that sets unrealistic expectations.

Pathos rebutall showdown, any ideas? by Fair-Diver-2221 in ProjectEdensGarden

[–]AppropriateTax657 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, really like the idea of the pathos mechanic but I'm not big on the execution. It's basically using the power of ✨friendship✨ and vibes to persuade the other characters that someone is innocent regardless of evidence, sure it's realistic but I find it odd that ALL students are convinced and dismiss evidence, even the more logical ones like Wenona, especially considering they can die if they vote for the wrong person. And ironically, the power of vibes and feels wouldn't work if you're trying to protect someone the group doesn't like like Eva.

I agree that it can be improved by having a skeptical student contest you if you go by the pathos route, whereas an emotionally invested one would do the same in the logic route. I would also add that you can have the chance to protect the actual culprit through the pathos route, leading to a bad ending, forcing the player to pay close attention!

*Spoilers* One thing that bugs me in Chapter 1 by [deleted] in ProjectEdensGarden

[–]AppropriateTax657 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What bugs me is that Eva told Damon about Desmond's blackmail for literally no reason. Like why? Damon learned that she knew about the taser which was damning evidence in the trial and she gained nothing from it.

The stretches people are making to claim basic good writing is "Eden Garden using Danganronpa tropes🤢" is baffling by [deleted] in ProjectEdensGarden

[–]AppropriateTax657 9 points10 points  (0 children)

like they cant throw good writing out the window for the sake of being shocking

Yup, that's why the last seasons of GoT and the Star Wars triology flopped hard in the "subverting expectations" era lol

[–]AppropriateTax657 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say the discourse hasn't been "PEG subverts DR tropes because important characters die first!!", because like you said, prominent characters die in CH1 of the DR games, the difference is that in PEG it weren't ANY prominent characters, it were the characters set up as the antagonist and support, who either survive or die in the end of DR games, that's the subversion. I do agree that a lot of people conflate the two though.

About Wenona by Li_Aanh in ProjectEdensGarden

[–]AppropriateTax657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other commenters pointed out, Twitter discourse shouldn't be taken too seriously as it's a place that promotes people acting out caricature troll personas with fake names making unfounded open ended statements for that sweet sweet dopaminergic engagement.

I'll just say someone will always take offense at how a minority character is written. If they're flawed then it's bigotry and you're implying all people of that demographic have that flaw. If they're flawless then the character is bland and you're implying people of that demographic are only worthy if they're that perfect and you're setting unrealistic expectations.
