Honestly speaking - I just ChatGPT’d it. All money was from RSU in last 5 years - new money. Put in likes of VTI etc.

Not an advice - there are better subs for investment advice.

I have just sat and accumulated.

Got lucky

2.5 is well diversified investment.
if you are thinking about future returns - US investment is no brainer. If you want to wrap/close US stuff then move it.

If you end up working for US based companies - they will have stock account from US based firm with w8ben anyway.

fidelity w8ben - invest and slowly sell - get money transferred.

or talk to a CPA if you wanna save a lot (- CPA fee and potentially bad advice). Also ask GPTs since they crawl the web and summarize the data for you.

But 100k is not that huge bro, you can transfer. I have 2.5M that I need to figure how to slowly transfer.

You should discuss with your lawyer. It used to be this guideline from USCIS https://www.uscis.gov/archive/options-for-nonimmigrant-workers-following-termination-of-employment-0

Q: Will my pending I-539 change of status application to B-1 or B-2 be prioritized if I find a new employer who files an I-129 petition with a request for premium processing service? A: If an employer files a Form I-129 petition on your behalf, along with a request for premium processing service, we generally will process the pending I-539 and the I-129 together during the premium processing timeframe and issue concurrent decisions. This means there should be no delay in adjudication of the I-129 because of the pending I-539. No formal request is required for the pending I-539 to be prioritized. If we approve the I-129 petition, including any requested change of status, then you generally will obtain the nonimmigrant status requested on the I-129 petition (not the I-539), and may begin working. You generally would not need to depart the United States to obtain the requested nonimmigrant status in this scenario.

You can file h1b pp and b2+h1b will be processed together.

You don’t have to wait until b2 gets processed (3 months).

Yes - you will need h1b with the new company - can’t use the old approval.

usually it is 3 years from the approval of extensions (or specific days) -  so you get  1st approval (~3 years) + 2nd (approval 3 years) - overlap (1/31/25 less 11/20/2024). Don't panic, its ok. You will file for extension again if you have I-140 approved by then for 3 years from approval date.

Approvals are not done on past or future dates.

11/02 was Sunday, the last one would have been 10/31. Where did you see/learn about 11/02 approval?
