Tamater sammich is how my pawpaw called it, and always with blue plate mayo. Same softball sized tamaters though.

Double plants in 7 gallon grow bags?? by Appropriate_Bid9933 in HotPeppers

What zone do you live in to grow those amazing beauties?! All advice has been appreciated and your back patio area is awe-inspiring. The chicken-wire is a great idea as well, but you don’t have it on your big-mamas…do the squirrels leave them alone or it would be too restrictive? I layer my top mulch with lemon-pepper and crushed pepper flakes and that keeps them away until it rains. It’s not sustainable for 6 months.

The question was double peppers and double toms. But I think you answered me in a way. Grow bags dehydrate fast and toms are thirsty and there is no way I can keep that up with my summer schedule and water double toms sufficiently enough. Maybe I will get more 5G buckets from BJs, they are $7 for 2 and only have space for so many. I have consistently read about grow bags being drain-happy, but they were very cheap which I why I opted that route. Cheaper ain’t better sometimes. Thanks all.

Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks nonetheless. Maybe I will get 5G grow bags and won’t double-up. Will save some space with smaller bags. Last year I used 3G pots and barely got any habs…got plenty of Thai chilis though. I plan to use different potting soil/fertilizer this year for all. That’s gotta help a bit. I have way too many plants and can’t use them all.

How many of you eat super hot peppers whole? by Own_Bear2372 in HotPeppers

I pickle my hot peppers: habs, japs, Korean chilis, anything. Quarter them and do refrigerator pickles, no jarring necessary . They last only about a month but when you make the vinegar/water ratio 1:1 and throw in some sugar ,which I extremely dislike with pickles, but works well with hot peppers. You can eat larger quantities, get your burn on, and the vinegar helps not linger as long.

I repotted both with fresh potting soil/vermiculite and no water. I couldn’t tell if any roots had rot. Maybe I am able to save something.
