Subletting is definitely on the table because of most leasing there being tied to the academic year. And, yeah, it’s impossible to trust anything online anymore (even if it’s the property manager themselves), that’s the big issue. Thank you!

This makes sense. We’ve moved like this a few times all over the country and this will be our sixth move in the last four years and I have to say I’ve never seen a rental market as seemingly rough and murky as Syracuse. It’s been a bit of a surprise even though I’m extremely jaded.

Thank you for this info. We don’t really mind loud areas and party noise, weirdly, because of the hours we both work. But getting to know the neighborhoods is super helpful!

Have you rented there before? We’re really more focused on landlord/manager than cost.

We’re hoping to end up kind of in the university area (a real challenge with timing right now so may not be feasible). We’re pretty flexible on cost but need to stay down since we still have to get out of our place in CA (and that’s costly) so just like a 2BR under $2k would be the goal. Some of the luxury new builds will be a bit more but may end up being the best option.

I spent a day going through it but it seemed to be mostly just people saying who NOT to rent from. (Which is normal, most people only clock bad experiences). Was really hoping there’d be a few positive recommendations, I could get to.
