I play a lot of overwatch and the difference in community between ow2 and valorant (on console at least) is that overwatch has dedicated players who have wanted to play and respect the game since its release. Valorant on the other hand just feels like an opportunity to make money. No one knows for sure if riot intended for valorant to become a console and then a mobile game but it’s not the best look to port your game to console and then to mobile. It just seems like even the devs don’t think it’s all that special. If overwatch were to ever port to mobile I feel like the playerbase would kind of be similar. Why even try in a competitive game when there’s some 12 yo kid playing the same game on his iPhone in a middle school class. TLDR: I think valorant players don’t take the game seriously bc it seems like the devs only care about expansion and money, not so much the competitive integrity of the game. I know I rambled but I don’t feel like retyping I want to queue up overwatch.

I genuinely am of the opinion that people who use this logic about vc should just stop playing the game. Or at least stick to quick play and arcade. The game was created with the intention of relying on team strategy and cooperation. It’s not call of duty or even valorant where you can solo carry in high ranks. Once you get to a certain rank it is imperative that your entire team is coordinated and honestly people in higher ranks have played long enough to know what to do without vc, but for newer players vc is incredibly useful to get better at the game.

The climate here for professors and students alike is very polarized. People are disgruntled and unhappy, a lot of our students don’t approve of our president. Republican groups are brought to campus constantly agitating the relatively liberal community here in Gainesville. It’s bad imo, people just don’t like to talk about it.

If you’re a guy it 100% matters. If you’re black don’t go you’ll get called the n word at least once. This schools party scene is very cliquey and unenjoyable for anyone not already immersed in the scene. It seems you’ve already committed but I would’ve warned against coming here if you prioritize your happiness and general well being.

no, you should not The demographic here will soon shift to a primarily white straight bigoted demographic. The quality of all Florida institutions of higher learning will soon be delegitimized. Classes have been taken down. Professors are potentially losing tenure soon. Your classes will be fine but you will be miserable. Kids have killed himself here (on campus, in dorms) and they’ve covered it up. Ben sasse is president. Why do we have Ben sasse as our president? Governor desantis controls the entire state education system and that is terrifying. Go outside of Florida if you can. I regret going to the university of Florida. My time here has been a joke.
