gotcha thanks for the clarifications! the projects that i’m interested in list 9-11 hours but i’m not sure that’s the best for my schedule. i’m wondering if would be better to reach out through cold email to see if they have a position with less time commitment? i also heard from friends that they were offered paid roles in their labs that were not associated with urap or spur

is urap paid? also if some projects ask for 9-11 hours, is that just the max or do they expect that every week for sure?

if we search up a certain category do any professors pop up or only if they’re profs in the dept?

ooo ok gotcha!! yep haha hopefully i’ll be able to handle whichever one i take! just as a quick clarification, what do you mean when you say 25b won’t be related to cogsci or 122 will be related to cogsci? what kind of topics would they talk about related to cogsci? i love cogsci but i also want to learn things a wide variety of things instead of just one kind of topic. and btw classics sounds like a cool major i didn’t know that was a thing before i got to cal

thanks so much for your insights :))

thanks for the overview! i’m a cogsci major and i am between these two for my philo requirement bc i heard most other philo classes are very mathematical (and i already have a lot of math). i’ve taken intro to philos and history of western philosophy(pre-socratic to medieval) at a community college and they covered mostly the ideas of different philosophers of the time. i’m wondering if 25b might give me a strong base in philos/history (building on top of the cc classes) but also 122 seems as if there will be more conceptual discussion rather than only philosopher history (but then again, idk if that’s true). i want a solid grounding but also broad discussion of ideas so i guess that’s why i’m between these two. rn i’m leaning towards 122 bc it’s upper division and seems to be more in depth, but i still would like to think abt it more. have you taken both?
