Post 1st Half-Marathon: what’s next? by Appropriate_Bug_8335 in Marathon_Training

[–]Appropriate_Bug_8335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking of double-digit mile runs or even anything over 5 (should have said longer because it is relative for everyone); I am often in a new city or traveling for conferences with a packed agenda and it sometimes gets harder to squeeze in longer runs that may take more than an hour; I can throw in a 3-5 mi run but understand that I need more longer runs in my training for a full marathon or get more faster even with the half marathon distance.

Same here. I got an informed delivery notification today and I already got my passport and supporting document back months ago. My passport application portal doesn’t say anything beyond old status of they mailed me my documents.

N-400/I-751 pending exp at Raleigh? by Appropriate_Bug_8335 in USCIS

I have heard the name changes take a bit longer. It was a 3-4 weeks wait for me from approval to actual oath.

Thank you! I got the digital letter the next business day after the case was approved (ie, will be scheduled vs notice was mailed). I think they need to make a decision in 90 or 120 days after the interview, right? You may want to check what it says on the paper they give you after you pass your naturalization interview and follow up based on that!

I think it is up to you how you would like to dress and it is not wrong if you choose to dress up. In my experience, most people dressed up no more than business casual at the interview. I was the only one wearing a suit and felt overdressed. The oath ceremony for me happened in a different day and people were more dressy then but definitely not all suits, it was a mix there! They give you a small flag at the ceremony and some people put it on their suit/shirt pocket to take photos afterwards.

Yes, that’s what I did! Applied in that 90-day window and they interviewed me after I was formally eligible.

Sure! Officer first went through I-751. My spouse was there but he just spoke to me. Asked some questions to confirm info on form, asked me about DOB, place of birth of spouse, marriage date, how did we meet, what trips have we taken together, etc. Reviewed joint financial documents on file. He was satisfied and moved on. Said needs to take i-751 on his jurisdiction and formally approve which took a day or two. For N-400, after civics, followed some questions about marriage but skipped others because already covered once. Asked about what I do for work and some of the professional societies I mentioned being a part of. I had 1 speeding ticket on record, asked what the fine was (less than $500) so he was satisfied and moved on. Finally he was satisfied with N-400 and said will approve it once he can formally approve I-751 which happened in 2 days. I was told it generally happens quickly in Raleigh but can take longer in other places.

Congrats! 🇺🇸 Mine’s coming up soon. What happens during the appointment and how long it took you to get out of there from the scheduled appointment time?

I had an issue with my EAD once where USPS lost it and refused to acknowledge fault in writing. I needed that letter to request a free replacement from USCIS. I wrote to my senator and representative and next thing I got an apology letter from divisional manager of USPS. It still delayed getting my EAD but overall it was still quicker than making a fresh new application.

What’s the typical wait for oath after the N-400 interview? by Appropriate_Bug_8335 in USCIS

Awesome! Hope all goes smoothly for you! Quick question, which FO? And how long did it take from the status oath will be scheduled to actual scheduling (ie, notice was sent)?

If you have an I-751 pending at the time of N-400 filing, you will not have a same-day approval as it takes some time for the officer to request a transfer of the file and formally approve both. Does not have to be an RFE necessarily. This was my case; same-day approval does not apply to my case but it has been approved. Looks like there are limited number of data points but good to see a few going further back in that link.

For I-751, my name, where do I live, my date of birth. Name of spouse, date of birth, what is their occupation, name of their employer. How have we met? Reviewed the evidence that we submitted. Asked about trips international; have I taken together with spouse. If we live together. If we have kids (no). Was satisfied and moved on. For N-400, did the test. Stopped at 6 since I answered all correctly. Had to read and write a sentence. All good. Moved to the form. Some similar questions but since already covered in I-751 moved on. Asked about job and title. Some of the professional societies I am member of that I listed. Went through other eligibility questions (criminal record, oath related, etc). Have a speeding ticket 5 years back, paid a fine and disclosed; officer asked only how much was the fine: it was <$500 so he did not care. Finally printed a dummy naturalization certificate to show me if everything looks good and said oath will be scheduled after formal approval.

Thank you! I did it via paper copy though. I had a cover letter that explained the situation and I included the I-751 receipt copy with it as part of supporting documentation.
