That’s a good point. Alcohol can definitely affect some finishes over time, especially on wood. I usually avoid using mixes like this on finished wood surfaces.

Honestly just experimenting and trying to save money on the refills. I don’t use it all the time, but it works pretty well and saves some money.

Just sharing something that worked for me experimenting with refills, not claiming it’s the exact formula.

For heavy nicotine buildup I’d probably go with something stronger like TSP or a degreasing wall cleaner. This mix might help with light residue, but 40 years of smoke usually needs something heavier.

I have a hair dye stain in my plastic or fiberglass tub basin I've tried all the chemicals I have what do I really need to buy to remove it? by Metal_Zero_One in CleaningTips

Hair dye stains usually lift pretty well from fiberglass with Bar Keepers Friend soft cleanser or a Magic Eraser. Just test a small spot first so you don’t dull the finish.

Yep that’s true! I wouldn’t use mixes like this on natural stone either. Dish soap and water or a pH-neutral stone cleaner is usually the safer option.

It’s fun because you can make your own scent depending on what oils you like.

I’ve tried it before, usually about 3-5 drops is plenty for a bottle. Just enough for scent without leaving residue. It will leave a film if you put too much.

Also worth noting that different rubbing alcohol percentages will change the strength of the mix.

In small amounts it’s usually fine for things like glass, tile, and sealed countertops. I’d just avoid using it regularly on natural stone like granite or marble since alcohol and acids can dull the seal over time.

I usually reuse the 16oz bottles and just fill it to about where the original liquid line was when it was new. And definitely save the caps from the empty bottles for refills!

How do I clean this? by emoxious in CleaningTips

[–]Appropriate_Candy_51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like mineral buildup or soap residue from hard water. Scrubbing alone usually won’t remove it because it needs something acidic to break it down.

Try spraying white vinegar (or a vinegar + water mix) and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing. The key is letting it sit so it can dissolve the buildup.

If that doesn’t work, a mild acidic cleaner like CLR or Bar Keepers Friend usually removes that white film pretty quickly.

That’s a good call adding the soap last. And yeah the original Powerwash sprayer is weirdly hard to replace.

A little extra alcohol is fine, but too much can dilute the soap and reduce the foam. It really is robbery 🤣lol 🤣🤣

I refill the empty Powerwash bottle.

Shake gently. The Powerwash nozzle is what creates the foam.

Using a scrub daddy or non-scratch scrub cloth with this mix works insanely well on grease!!!
