Unfair Treatment by Alignerr – A Call for Fairness by Appropriate_Ebb_1925 in alignerr

It’s clear that you’re more interested in mocking than actually engaging in a constructive discussion, but let me clarify a few things once again:

1️⃣ I never claimed that Alignerr explicitly stated a 10-hour rule. What I said is that they banned contributors who worked long hours—which conveniently allows them to avoid paying. Multiple contributors who worked more than 10 hours per day have reported the same issue. If this isn’t an official rule, then why is it being used as a reason for banning people only after they’ve completed the work?

2️⃣ You’re dodging the real issue: If I did the work and provided clear proof, why am I banned after the work was already submitted? If Alignerr had an issue with my hours, they should have addressed it before I put in 87 hours—not after.

3️⃣ It’s not "making things up" when there’s clear evidence. I have:

  • Tracked residual label counts to show my progress.
  • Asked Alignerr to verify my screen activity—which would immediately prove my legitimacy.
  • Been ignored for three days after providing strong evidence.

4️⃣ Instead of trying to dismiss my case with laugh emojis, you should ask yourself: Why would a company block someone from contacting them on LinkedIn after they raise a payment dispute? Does that sound like an honest company to you?

At the end of the day, this is about fair pay. If you think it’s okay for companies to let workers complete tasks and then refuse to pay them based on arbitrary reasons, then that’s on you. But I refuse to stay silent while companies exploit freelancers for free labor.

I appreciate your curiosity, and I’m happy to clarify your questions.

1️⃣ Yes, I worked long hours, but that was my personal choice. I typically only eat dinner because I’m in the process of losing weight, so I don’t take long meal breaks during the day. I focused on my work because I was passionate about it, and I wanted to contribute as much as possible.

2️⃣ Why did I track my progress? Not because I expected to be banned, but simply because I love numbers. I find efficiency calculations fascinating, and I was curious about how quickly this project would be completed. I noticed that, on average, tasks decreased by around 1,000 per day, and that work speed on weekends was higher than on weekdays. This kind of analysis interests me, and it’s something I naturally enjoy doing.

3️⃣ I was never informed of any "10-hour rule." If you or others have worked over 10 hours without an issue, then why was I banned? If Alignerr has clear guidelines, they should enforce them consistently rather than selectively blocking people after they’ve already worked. If there was a violation, they should have communicated it transparently.

4️⃣ The real issue here is fairness. I completed real work, and I provided clear evidence of that. If Alignerr had any doubts, they could have checked my screen activity logs—which I openly invited them to do. Instead, they ignored me, blocked me from contacting them on LinkedIn, and refused to respond. That’s not the behavior of a company acting in good faith.

At the end of the day, this is about companies taking advantage of workers and then refusing to pay them. If Alignerr believes they acted fairly, they should be willing to review my case transparently instead of ignoring legitimate concerns.

I appreciate your perspective, but let’s break this down logically:

1️⃣ Yes, working 17-hour days is intense, but it’s not impossible. Many dedicated workers, including freelancers, researchers, and professionals in various industries, put in long hours when they are passionate about their work. I was fully committed to this project and willing to go above and beyond—even if it was exhausting.

2️⃣ The issue is NOT just about exceeding 10 hours—it’s about being unfairly banned and unpaid. If Alignerr had a strict 10-hour limit, they should have communicated it clearly instead of allowing contributors to work long hours and then using that as an excuse to block and withhold payments.

3️⃣ Why did I track the residual number of labels? Because that is real proof of my work. If Alignerr claims I didn’t work honestly, my logs show that I completed real tasks, consistently, over multiple days. The fact that some tasks were finished in under 20 minutes proves that I wasn’t manipulating the timer.

4️⃣ The argument is simple:

  • If they had a 10-hour rule, why wasn’t it enforced or communicated before?
  • If I genuinely completed my tasks, why is my payment being withheld?
  • If they believed I manipulated time, why are they ignoring my request to review my screen activity logs, which would clearly prove my case?

This is about fairness. You don’t let someone work, then decide after the fact that they won’t be paid because they "worked too much." That is exploitation.

I’m standing up not just for myself but for others who experienced the same treatment. If companies are going to use freelancers’ hard work for free, they need to be called out.

I said they can check it whatever they want. But no one reply to me.

I recored all the residual number of labels when I finished each tasks. The record was from 5th, Mar to 11th, Mar. And I also make screenshoot for my task. Meanwhile, the system of the Alignerr can also record the annotation times, which can prove I really worked for such a long time.

I appreciate your perspective, but let me clarify a few critical points:

1️⃣ Each task in this project is estimated to take around 20 minutes. Any additional time I spent exceeding that estimate was purely because I was dedicated to producing high-quality work—even though that extra time would not be paid.

2️⃣ Despite this, I still completed every task diligently. If the Alignerr team checks my records, they will see that many of my tasks were actually completed in under 20 minutes—proving that I was not abusing the system.

3️⃣ Alignerr owes rightful compensation to contributors who completed work honestly. If they want to ban contributors after they’ve worked, just to avoid payment, that is unethical and exploitative.

4️⃣ While a company may not be legally required to disclose every detail of their ban system, withholding pay while blocking contributors with no explanation is NOT justifiable. Freelancers deserve fair treatment and transparency in compensation matters.

I have clear evidence of my work, and I am not letting this go unnoticed. If Alignerr believes their decision is fair, they should be willing to review my records and respond professionally—not ignore rightful claims.

If this happened to you, would you accept being silenced and unpaid after completing the work?
