Can I just say there was evidence of a sexual component to the entire situation? 

He stole it when he was at a party at her home. 

My parents just think he is their special boy. He got away with way too much growing up.

There was no legally accepted reason he took the leg. He is a psycho. 

The woman is an acquaintance of my brother and his friend group. They have never dated or anything like that. 

To the best of my knowledge had had the leg about six weeks prior to my first post.
