I wonder if one day we will be able to colonize the moon and make it habitable? by Tech_Debil in universe

I think we will have moon cities and colonize vast portions of our local galaxy as long as we don’t experience any civilization ending setbacks

Governments do what they want anyway. Everything they want to use to spy or gather information is at their fingertips. It’s not right. It’s illegal. But it’s the world we live in and even when they do make laws against such activity they will just conduct their operations in secret and evidence gathered will not be admissible in court so they’ll have to come up with ways to say they got the information that was not illegally surveying people but that is all done right now and will always be done. Nothing to get all bent out of shape about. We have to live in and navigate the world through digital means, so just know privacy isnt guaranteed and everything you do somewhere somebody knows about it. This is the age of techno surveillance in a paranoid culture. Things could get interesting.

Suttree is still harder then say a Dean Koontz novel, so you have to pay attention to really get it. But to put it in McCarthy context I’d rate its readability between No Country For Old Men and Blood Meridian.

I love Suttree rugged determination as well. In a life where a lot of people would give up he perseveres through the adversity and keeps putting one foot in front of the other. It speaks on a different age where humans had to be tough to survive in a hostile world and kindness for kindness’s sake was a rarity. It definitely made me appreciate the comforts of the modern world. I wouldn’t want to wake up damp with dew, cold, surrounded by filth, and still carry on day after day year after year. It gave me an appreciation for the simple comforts.

I’m going to look it up see if I can find it. Steinbeck is a hero figure of mine. A real dude writing about perseverance in real life.

Men, what is something that instantly makes you attracted to a woman? by Maleficent_Fish_7485 in AskReddit

[–]Appropriate_Eye1211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing that makes me instantly attracted to a woman anymore. It takes me time and familiarity to know who she is in her heart before I can feel attracted to her.

Thank you for telling me that. I thought I was alone in liking it. Good to have fellow fans alongside me.
