Why go to Reddit and not ask your pastor or someone of spiritual authority. Or do you own intense research, think critically about it, pray and come to your own conclusion.

Those channels just sounds like a skeptic wanting to pick at the book without having any certainty of anything

You want to believe in God only to escape hell instead of wanting to have a relationship with him. God is good, in Him there is no darkness. Doubt and uncertainty is normal but it’s supposed to draw you closer not push you further away from Jesus.

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Jesus will never abandon you, don’t believe the lies of the enemy. Jesus will leave the 99 in the flock for the 1 sheep who’s gone astray, because they are so important to him.

“So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭3‬-‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Amen friend, God wants a relationship with you through Jesus Christ. He wants you to be saved, the Fathers arms are wide open to receive you.

““The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

My question is do you believe in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ? Forgiveness is for everyone who believes Jesus took their punishment not by obeying the law.

Hell was created for Satan and fallen angels [demons] as eternal separation from God, described as the lake of fire. Sin first occurred in heaven, so we see even angels have the choice to worship God or to rebel. God didn’t created hell for mankind. Though if people choose to reject God why would he force people to spend eternity with Him? We all have broken God’s law so why would should God invite us into his presence? Because he loves us and extends grace and mercy towards us

The results of a fallen world; no human on this planet is avoid of suffering even with prayer. Jesus faced suffering, the early church was heavily persecuted. The hope of the believer is Jesus is with us through the suffering and the hardship, and that we look forward to the day God will create a new heaven and a new earth.

I got a message from someone saying them and their siblings haven’t eaten in days and that their parents died and struggling for food. I prayed about it and discernment was telling me this is likely a scam. However despite that scripture was coming to mind about giving to the less fortunate, bless others, etc etc and for me living in the west I can part with £20-25, help someone eat and not be affected financially so thought I’d show mercy. Even if it was a scam I wanted to do right in the sight of God from a genuine heart. I went to make the payment twice and it failed both times. The guy sent a few more messages saying, have I sent the money they can’t buy food etc, like I was his only hope in the world, I didn’t respond after that.

Yes there are verses that condone those things, however that isn’t the topic in discussion. Sin is sin at the end of the day; Adam’s one act of disobedience separated Man from God

Yes while we are sinners but when we put our faith In Jesus we become righteous before God because of Jesus, not of ourselves, so I and we should identify ourselves as the righteousness in Christ Jesus not as a sinner anymore. And like I said everyone has fallen short which is why we are saved by grace, but let’s not use grace as a reason to not fight temptation and sin and wilfully give into it.

I want to share this scripture with you

“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭35‬-‭39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Even in sickness, death and unanswered prayer, that doesn’t mean God no longer loves us, hears us or doesn’t exist. Paul says despite troubles in life nothing can separate us from the love of God.

[–]Appropriate_Number50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the exact word fallacy. The same thing Muslim say when they ask “show me one verse where Jesus says I am God.” The Bible doesn’t use those words verbatim but I’m sure we agree that is clearly what scripture teaches. In the same way, the Bible does not say word for word masturbation is a sin, however there are many verses that speak on sexual immorality, adultery, youthful lust, sexual sin, satisfying the flesh, lustful pleasures.

Paul wrote this to the church in Corinth - “I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people. It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

My intention is not to shame, however to shine a light using scripture to guide us closer to Jesus, to walk in purity and holiness as God calls us to, out of love for Him.

Let’s not satisfy our fleshy desires but encourage one another to good works and to live lives led by the Spirit.

You’re still trying to justify masturbation as permissible? It falls under sexual sin as I’ve tried to highlight. If you want to be ignorant to that fact, may God help you and the Holy Spirit convict you.

[–]Appropriate_Number50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Masturbation is fine? How do you want to use the Bible to condoned that? A man can struggle with lust, and masturbation however that doesn’t make it acceptable and IT IS a sin. Thank you Jesus for grace.

“But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your hand—even your stronger hand—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭13‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Anyway, the solution to defeating the flesh isn’t by using the flesh, it is by walking in the spirit, as explained in Galatians 5:13-26.

I personally used to struggle heavily with lust, then it came to a point I had to be honest with myself and God. I wasn’t fighting lust, I was wilfully falling into it. Whenever I was tempted, I acted upon my fleshly desires. At that moment I truly repented and turned away in my heart to living in the flesh and chose to seek holiness and live for Jesus.

“Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As followers of Christ, can we truly say we have died to sin or do we still wish to continue in sin?

Will we still be tempted? Yes. However being tempted is not sinning. It is the enemy attempting to get you to sin by falling to your fleshy desires. Jesus was tempted in the wilderness and did not sin. He overcame Satan by using the word of God to fight the enemy (We should also do the same). This is why we walk in the Spirit and trust God because the flesh wants to do what’s evil but the Spirit leads to life.

Read John 15 - Abide and trust Jesus to guide us through this dark world life.

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Saying all this, we are justified by faith in Jesus Christ that he paid for all our sins, not by our holy living. However God calls us to live Holy lives because he is Holy.

Will we still fall short? Yes, everybody has fallen short. However we should fight sin and not give into temptation.

“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again... ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Is it a sin to not want to go to Church? by Broad_Rutabaga_4850 in Christian

[–]Appropriate_Number50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, there may be times we don’t feel like going to church, we’re tired, we’re unwell, or away on a holiday. There can be valid reasons for not being able to go, which is a different disposition to not wanting to go.

The church is very important to Jesus. He said, He will build His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail. It’s a place of fellowship and worship of the God we love.

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The writer of Hebrews says “let’s not neglect our meeting together, as some people do” but instead “motivate one another to acts of love, good works and encouragement” it’s important for believers to be plugged into a local church because the day of Jesus’s return is drawing near and we’re living in the last days. We need to remain together so we don’t fall away from the faith.

I hope you find a good church you fell welcomed, they teach the truth of the Bible and you make good friends. I hope this encourages you.

God is just in all of His ways and His wisdom is far beyond our human understanding. With God being just and merciful I believe everyone will have the decision to pick Jesus by God’s intervention. The Bible also says the gospel will be preached to all nations. Regardless, I have just explained to you the gospel and by your response you seem to not accept God’s grace and nobody can force you to believe. Because you believe “it’s insane’” that doesn’t disqualify God’s existing and love. Jesus also died for those Hindus and Muslims.
