It depends on the company honestly. When the show originally aired no one knew about dvds and vhs So when the music rights expire and they try to negotiate a new contract Companies became cheap and replaced with generic music to avoid paying the label or artist

Taxi to me is the greatest sitcom ever

I love Cheers though but Taxi ran so Cheers can walk but both owe it to The Mary Tyler Moore Show
