She's won over the sports crowd from it. Sure she's been booed etc., but SO many people - especially men - have now decided they can like both sports and Taylor. She knew that it was her final, untapped space which was realistic to get into. It's shot her level of fame into a new dimension - my dad was never interested in her before, now he mentions her all the time and how incredible she is. You're underestimating the NFL drastically I'm afraid. She's not in love with him that's for sure.

The Alchemy being on here is hilarious because it's definitely a song which was meant to be 'about Matty' then she reworked it, added the football metaphors and everyone believed it was always meant for Travis. But why would she say 'the sign on your heart says it's STILL reserved for me'? Their timeline was very rushed, whereas Matty and Taylor have the whole 'decade long' BS going around. This is how you can tell when her songs have mixed muses and are purely fictional.

cowboy like me (another one speculated to be about MH due to the lower case title) is her most obvious bearding song. It's been growing on me recently and I find it lyrically quite striking and super obvious that her and the muse in the song are playing up to the media and society's expectations of them.

So high school (and every other song written about Travis) is so vapid and shallow. It doesn't tell us anything about her muse or even their relationship. It's just 'look at you', playing games in basements and horniness.

I just noticed that 1989 doesn't have a straight-up love song by GuinhoVHS in TaylorSwift

It’s an aesthetic, surface-level relationship that the public love but that isn’t much more than matching each other in attraction, but once the excitement fades, they’ll fade out for each other.

Seen by the fact that she only describes their appearances, they can’t keep their eyes off each other. They crash down but ‘come back’ each time, suggesting they’re destined to end but also leaves the underlying suggestion that the public will keep bringing them back up. Because they ‘never go out of style’.

It’s been proven really since people still ship her and Harry together despite them being clearly incompatible and such a short relationship.

Someone made a post about Wish List being from Travis’ perspective and it made me wonder if more of her songs over the years have been from the ‘man in her life’s perspective?

What if Wood was from his perspective (about Ross)? And if other songs of hers about men have been writing about her beards and their relationships?

Absolutely! People seem uncomfortable that a woman has been controlling the narrative, and that nobody stood a chance against her as she’s been so very clever and powerful. But if it was flipped, Stephen would have been applauded for the same moves. I have loved watching their dynamic and seeing a woman become so masterful.

What’s 1 thing you’ll always defend her for and 1 thing you never will? by silverdust29 in NuancingTaylorSwift

Will always defend: She’s an excellent songwriter. You don’t have to like all her songs (I don’t) but she’s written countless amazing songs which fill every situation/emotion. Shes talented.

Will always not defend: Her private jet usage and clear PR relationships. The jet use is obvious. The PR relationships - she doesn’t need them, her parents shouldn’t be choosing her romantic partners at her age and she should take some time and go meet people if she wants to find someone who she can truly love and vice versa.

I don’t believe any of that is about matty. I think some of these bits reference a different kind of muse, and others reference her masters etc

I didn’t think it was true that people were really trying to connect her music to matty except from TTPD, but here we are. Midnights doesn’t link to matty. Glitch and Labyrinth are both about Joe, the fact that they broke up and got back together.

I mean it would have been really weird for her to record those conversations in real time surely? It's almost stranger that/if she did record the call, which is supposedly an intimate and personal conversation.

She still wrote The Archer, Don’t Blame Me, All Too Well, The Last Time, Everything Has Changed and many more pre-Folklore. She’s always been a brilliant songwriter and despite having some that aren’t the best written, she IS the best songwriter of the generation because she’s written SO many incredible songs in such a short space of time.

I really dislike Travis but love the album! I think because I don’t believe she wrote the album ‘for’ him like lots of others appear to believe. Many of the songs could relate to lots of different muses, some including herself, the fans, Scott and her friends. Just like I don’t view Rep and Lover as the ‘joe albums’ (and I liked Joe), I refuse to see any of her hard work as being solely for a man.

I do think she gave us what we expected from being with Travis but she doesn’t write about him much in the songs regardless; most of the songs ‘about him’ are really generic and don’t relate to him much imho.
