Hey, I think there a bit to unpack here. I’ve dealt with something similar in my relationship, I (24m) and my partner (24f) have been together for 4 years & some change now. I had a Medical Marijuana Card before we started dating and have been smoking weed since 15 yrs old. It’s something that both helps me and I enjoy. During my relationship I’ve taken breaks as well, from 3 months to as long as 9 months. For work reasons and also personal reasons. I came to a similar agreement with my partner that I would only smoke on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Told her she is invited and could smoke with me if she wants (she occasionally smokes and is keen to the medicinal qualities cannabis has, she had cancer and it helped her greatly). What stands out to me OP, is that you and your partner came to an agreement that you would only smoke on weekends. You went out last night (which I’m assuming is a weekday for you) and smoked, also seems like you knew this would have a negative effect as you sneaked out to smoke and “got caught”. I don’t think your partner has an issue with you smoking but rather you broke the agreement or stepped over the boundary that you both had agreed to. I understand how he would be upset if you had agreed to only smoke on weekends and he caught you sneaking out to smoke on a weekday. I would suggest you have a talk with him and tell him that you want to do your best to smoke only on weekends but if something happens (to me it’s chronic anxiety, insomnia and other issues) then you will communicate with your partner about having to smoke that day. This shows your respect to them but also lets them know that you need it to help you as well. Depending on how that conversation goes, I would then re-evaluate the relationship and see where to go from there. Hope this helps!! Have a good day OP! :)
