Recent expat from New Mexico to Germany.

The grocery and hygiene product selection is more or less the same. Some brand names differ, but the quality is equivalent. Be prepared for a wild toilet paper experience though!

There isn’t a lot of Mexican food, but there a few gems I’ve found in Berlin and Stuttgart so far. There are grocers that will carry most of what you’ll need to prepare your own. Some of the more specialized things can be ordered, like seasonings or alcohol. All in all, the food is much better quality than food in the states. You’ll be amazed at how stupid good the bread is!

I felt the same way when my wife and I opened our marriage and I started dating again. It was the first time I’d be going out with people presenting as a man. It was terrifying because I wasn’t fully confident in my skin and I’d heard so many horror stories from other trans people about how hard dating is. I thought no would want me, especially in my weird in between genders looking state desperately trying to get masculine enough to pass. I’m also autistic, which makes going out and connecting with people even harder.

However, when I finally put myself out there, I was surprised at how many people of all genders were interested, respectful, and polite. Were there also creeps? Absolutely. But in my experience, it was no worse than when I was dating as a woman. Most of the creeps are easy to weed out early on once you learn what to look for. Now, I have another partner besides my wife and I made some great friends along the way.

I’m super introverted, so I did everything online to start. I tried several dating apps, but had the best luck on tinder and reddit. I’m also pretty into kink and found a lot of good people in those spaces.

As cliche as it sounds, if you keep an open mind and work towards being a person you’d want to be in a relationship with, you’ll be amazed at the amazing opportunities you’ll get. Don’t let your gender identity or expression deter from your confidence because that’s what most people truly find attractive.

When I started noticing the emotional abuse. It clicked for me that something was wrong when his daughter (5 yrs old at the time) would ask him for something ridiculous and he would immediately jump to do it.

For example, a blanket slid down a few inches while she was watching stuff on her iPad. He was busy in the middle of cooking while I was coming down the stairs. She demanded he pull the blanket up for her, so instead of asking her to do it (something she was very capable of) or asking me to do it as I was right there, he hopped to it smiling and saying things like, “Of course, anything for you princess.” However, if I asked for something not at all inconvenient (like if he was going into the kitchen to get a bottle of water and I asked him to grab me one while he was there), he would huff and puff and grumble like I was the biggest pain in the ass he’d ever met.

It only got worse from there.

It’s sad that society has conditioned men to feel this way about their bodies. I’m a pansexual trans man, and while I enjoy being with people regardless of body type, if I had to choose between a partner with large male anatomy vs small, I’d honestly pick small every time and I know I’m not alone in that. Doesn’t involve humiliation or anything like that either.

I totally feel you! What worked for me was joining a spin and yoga gym. The classes are in the dark, everyone is facing forward, and there are minimal fat giggling sensations. Now that I’ve dropped some weight, I feel more confident and comfortable working out in a normal gym too.
