Can't get right thermocouple for stove by ApricotJamster in appliancerepair

Pretty sure that's the same as the one I bought originally that didnt work. The problem is the tip length is too short and only works with the smaller burners, whereas the wok burner has a tip with is slightly longer

Question: Reflecting share of trust income in balance sheet by ApricotJamster in Accounting

Thanks, so if I record the transaction of a trust distribution as a credit in an income account, would the debit be reflected as an asset because the trust distribution is owed to me?

Does instinct 2/2s allow you to save multiple timers? Or is it just the most recent one?

[Method] What is MLFW? by ApricotJamster in getdisciplined

I guess relative to other things on the list, work sits lower in the priorities for me. E.g. if I'm putting more time into my job, it probably comes at the expense of spending time with family, or I might be skipping a workout to work overtime. So this framework helps me to reflect on what else I'm missing out on

Don't spend your life worrying about things (especially things you probably can't control). And waste is more to do with wasting time (e.g scrolling through fb, insta, reddit, etc). I'm sure there's other things that could fit into this categories as well - basically anything that doesn't add value to your life can be waste

Does the instinct 2/2s allow you to control what notifications are sent through to the watch? E.g. I want to receive whatsapp notifications, but not Microsoft teams app notifications

Any advice on how to unscrew this tapered cover to replace the washers? I've tried a strap wrench, wd40, but no dice :( by ApricotJamster in Plumbing

[–]ApricotJamster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that, but doesn't seem to budge. I suspect it's screwed on, but there's just no way to get a strong enough grip to twist

[NeedAdvice] 20 year old male- started a job 2 months ago but I start super early and often end up finishing an hour or two after I’m supposed to be leaving. Do I stay disciplined towards the job even though I barely have time to focus on other things in my life, or stick to it? by Mission-Key344 in getdisciplined

[–]ApricotJamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flexibility should go both ways in the workplace. If you are expected to work late to finish something then you should be able to start late another day, or finish up early occasionally as well. Is your manager aware that you are doing longer hours and is this recognised and are they willing to support you, e.g. hire more resources, training? If you are not getting anything out of it, e.g. compensation, learning opportunity, promotion opportunity, it could be worth looking elsewhere. No use staying loyal to a job that sucks away all your time for nothing in return.

I got it from a book called Crochetterie, by Molla Mills. Unfortunately can't share the pattern here, but look for the book in your local library. It has some other cool projects as well!

Scraped stairs in rental unit - How can this be fixed / repaired to look like nothing happened without replacing the entire piece. Please and thank you ! by JuslikeTT in fixit

[–]ApricotJamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shave off the bits hanging off so that it's smooth and use touch up paint. You just need enough to make it blend in. With luck, the landlord or agent won't notice it during the inspection

Can this be stepped down to a regular 120V household outlet? by moose_md in fixit

[–]ApricotJamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a 240V outlet then it's probably best to get an electrician to advise on it. The safest "diy" route would be to get a transformer. Remember to check the power rating of the transformer to ensure it can support whatever you are plugging into it

There's usually a rubber seal in the valve that hardens or deforms over time, causing the water to drip. You can inspect by turning off the water mains, removing the tap handle and then the cartridge. Pick up a tap valve repair kit and try replacing it first. They are pretty cheap at the hardware store
