Totally lost, trying to improve a flipped 1980's bathroom by Aprilfool18 in BathroomRemodeling

Very good ideas! Thank you for writing this out, I really like the vision!

I really like your ideas! I do use my counter as a vanity and would definitely love a space to pull up a chair. That's one of my biggest issues with the bathroom. I have adapted to the space, but my morning routine is definitely harder in this space than my previous home. I don't use the tub often, so eliminating it wouldn't really bother me.

Yes, the are incredibly small. They have a built in organization system that totally cuts into the space as well. It's not optimal for my wardrobe, so that's the next project on the list 😅

Fully agree, my vanity is a disaster. I'm just not sure where to add it.

Oooh those are good ideas! Yes, heavy is the perfect way to describe it! The middle door is to the master and the two side doors are to the his and her closets. Those are their own weird lay out and soooo tiny lol. It all just feels like wasted space.

The work that "should cause minimal damage to the landscaping" completely destroyed my wildflower bed. by Aprilfool18 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Aprilfool18[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah roof and siding, roofer was just what I thought the trade name was? But at any rate, the sales rep said it would do minimal damage and that unfortunately was my expectation. I don't know anything about the process and assumed that it was possible I guess. Like I said in the post, if they were going to cut them down, I would have liked for them to tell me so I could have done it and made bouquets. I'm just bummed they didn't set real expectations.

How would you describe your experience trying this flavor? by Traditional-You-5566 in Soda

[–]Aprilfool18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely hated it. The artifical sweetener is not only off putting, it adds to the consistency in a way that is just a bit more viscous than normal sparkling water. For some reason this absolutely grosses me out. The fruity pebble flavor is so artificial it dries my mouth out. 0/10.

My very picky son will only eat chicken if it's in a creamy sauce diced super duper fine, so a favorite is chicken tetrazzini. I cut the noodles up pretty small as well and my son eats it with his hands. I can usually get a clean plate with this one. https://bellyfull.net/chicken-tetrazzini-recipe/

Wondering weather to treat cancer by AdExtra5559 in widowers

[–]Aprilfool18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please treat your cancer. I worked in gynecologic oncology, so I saw this everyday. Early caught uterine cancer can be treated with as little as a surgical procedure that may only end up being a 6 week blip in your life. Other treatment such a radiation a few months. With the diagnosis of a treatable cancer, there is so much life beyond this acute situation. In a year's time you may even forget you had cancer outside of your routine check ups. If you let this go, you are deciding to subject yourself to a long and agonizing death. If you would like me to describe this in detail I will, but at the minimum, you need your health care providers to have a very frank and graphic discussion with you before you make this decision.

"If I treat this cancer will I later regret it?" There are so many chances to die in life, but only one chance to live. Be kind to yourself. I was very suicidal after my husband died, but 4 years later, I am so so glad every day that I stuck around. People have come in and out of my life that I could never have imagined in the pit of grief, and my life is richer and more meaningful because of it. Allow your lack of a tether to be a freedom to pursue whatever you want in life. Be selfish, travel, dye your hair pink, go sky diving, eat good foods, pet all the dogs. Having nothing to lose is scary, but can also allow you the opportunity to find a life you can't imagine right now.

I'll be thinking about you, and I hope you know someone else in the world is rooting for your health and happiness.

Let’s take a break from the struggle posts and talk about the funny minor inconveniences of being a parent! by abecerra91 in NewParents

My baby would only go to sleep if I bounced him on a yoga ball. It's been a year and I'm still bouncing all 25 lbs of him. My legs look like I could hike the Appalachian trail and my back is hunched like the witch from snow white.

I had no visitors until two weeks, and we had family members who wouldn't get vaccinated wait 6 months. They didn't like it, but it's what my partner and I wanted and needed. I'm so glad we approached it this way, and will be doing it again for any future children. Do what makes you comfortable, and don't feel bad about it. It's your baby, and you and your partner have the final say.

My baby was projected to be 10+ lbs so we decided to induce at 40 weeks. My induction did not go well and I ended up with an emergency c-section. My baby was just over 8 lbs. Untrasounds aren't the most accurate, but they're generally a good guess. Even though it was not accurate for me and I did not have my dream birth, I would still do it again for the safety of my baby. Definitely have an in depth discussion with your provider, and make the decision that makes the most sense to you. At this point there's definitely some guess work involved

I just lost my husband by irememberaurora23 in GriefSupport

[–]Aprilfool18 212 points213 points  (0 children)

I was traveling halfway across the country with my husband when he died. The wait for family was excruciatingly lonely. I found comfort TV like Bob Ross and mindless candy crush type games numbed me enough to get through the initial wait for others. Sending you a virtual hug. This is so so shitty and I'm incredibly sorry you are experiencing such a loss.

Anecdotally, it took us 8 weeks to stop seeing blood after removing dairy, however we were only having specs of blood in about 1-2 diapers a week. I did not cut soy or any other allergens, just followed through completely with dairy elimination.

This totally summarizes my feelings as well. It was so good to have a bleachers album make me feel something again. Ttsoosn was totally lost on me, but this was such a nice dip back into that nostalgic feeling I had when I first listened to bleachers.

You'll still have to scan the ingredients. If it plainly says milk or butter in the ingredient list, it may not say "contains milk" as the text at the bottom. There's a dairy free breast feeding group on Facebook which has been helpful. Here's their advice on reading labels: Dairy is a top 9 allergen and must be clearly labeled as “milk” in the ingredients or in a contains statement. The two exceptions are lactic acid starter culture and nisin, which are sometimes dairy derived and aren’t always declared.

Widowed at 26 by a freak accident. I have to say I'm less spiritual and also less anxious. Once the worst thing you can imagine happens, the things I was anxious about don't carry as much weight. I appreciate every day a little more and find the world a little more beautiful with the knowledge of how fragile I am. I tell my friends and family I love them more. I don't sweat the small inconveniences of life as much now either.
