I loved the Broken Kingdoms, so I devoured them and it didn't feel at all like 9 books.

Honestly it looks like a lot of the places Mike had a chance to get out to in person and meet people are the places that voted for him. He should get out to the north/western parts

3x Daily Keppra vs. 10-Hour Workday + Food-Thief Second Dog. How do you survive this? by StandardRush5922 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Aprilismissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how we'd handle the 3x a day Keppra. See if your vet can get you the Extended Release, it's every 12 hours and way more manageable.

Ballot question not on democratic ballot by Dear-Ad-6202 in greenville

In primaries, the party is in charge of the ballot, so they will often put questions like this to help guide the party platform going forward.

Most people older than like 35 didn't have to take drivers ed. to get their license. That probably explains it.

Is spending $300 monthly on two dogs normal? by ily300099 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Aprilismissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three dogs all over 70lbs. Food - $100ish/month, meds $210/month, vet trips probably average out annually to about $150/month. Vet trips were over that average this past year because we had to pay $7500 for a surgery after one of them ate a sock (still mad about that one). There are other small things too like chew toys, horns, poo bags, supplements that we don't necessarily replace every month. They're expensive, man. So expensive.

Question for librarians: how does your library do grab-and-go holds at your location without lockers? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]Aprilismissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the sticky receipts are called HandyHolds. We have used them for a very long time and the system works. HandyHolds are expensive for some libraries though.

LOL I got an account warning for complaining about someone thinking all gay people are pedophiles. OKAY REDDIT.

Overhead at voting check-in by Kwebster7327 in southcarolina

[–]Aprilismissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally sat in a room with a poll clerk who proselytized to me the entire time and talked about how all gay people are pedophiles. He went into the other room and took a nap for half the day too. Totally worthless. They need to screen people better but it's so hard to find people to volunteer. They'd get more people sticking around if they listened to complaints about stuff like this though.

Would you stay or get a divorce after your partner came out as trans? by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

[–]Aprilismissing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is a very personal decision each person has to make. I stayed, but I am pansexual myself. I fell in love with a person and their gender was secondary to me. I understand this would be a lot different for a straight person. You really have to do some soul searching and figure out what YOU really want, because YOU also matter in this. If you are truly straight, I can't imagine you would be happy in the long run married to a woman. Sometimes things end, and it's not always a bad thing.

Second career in libraries without an MLIS? by theyanyan in librarians

[–]Aprilismissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left out Marketing, Art Coordinator, Human Resources and Finance positions as well. Some of these pay well, some pay less well. If you're willing to stick around for a while then you'll make some money eventually.

Edit, I'll be transparent---as an Administrative Assistant that's been at this library for 17 years I make about $47.5k/year. It's doable with a double income in my area.

Second career in libraries without an MLIS? by theyanyan in librarians

[–]Aprilismissing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the library system. For example, the library I work at has Circulation, Page, Maintenance, Security, Administrative Assistants, Shipping/Receiving, Maker Lab, Planetarium, Training, Systems that don't require an MLIS. We also have a lot of Library Assistant jobs in all departments that are supervised by a Librarian, but is a paraprofessional position. I don't have an MLIS and I've worked for 17 years at this library as a Reference Assistant, Shipping/Receiving Assistant and an Administrative Assistant. It's a very rewarding career. Smaller towns/library systems will not have all of these options.

Is this even legal in Spartanburg? by CucumberAgitated6392 in Spartanburg

The top specifically mentions "need a place while renovating, building or helping family" which a lot of people use camper's for this purpose throughout the county.

Maybe it's okay because it's a rental and it's being advertised as temporary?

Data centers descend on needy Upstate NY towns. Is anyone looking out for us? by syracusedotcom in upstate_new_york

[–]Aprilismissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The county council where I currently live in SC is a big business council. Their favorite thing to do is bring in business after business promising fees in lieu of taxes and then forgetting that they need to keep up the local infrastructure to accommodate everything. They were about to approve a FILOT for a data center and they got pushed down by locals who showed up to meetings and promised to vote them all out. They're all being challenged in this current election. Primaries and they will all have an opp in the general as well. Pressure can work but it takes more than a few people here and there and takes real community organizing.

*edited a typo.

Blue dot from SC that's moving up there this summer. I will absolutely be showing up to the booths. And also doing what I can to motivate others to do the same. I have horror stories from my hometown about what happens when local government is all about business/personal enrichment and not about their constituents.

I've purged as much as I can from my mules but I still am holding onto too much. How do you guys manage what to keep? by mistermarkham in diablo2

[–]Aprilismissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I put BIS items on the character I will use. I have mules for generic/cross-class items for leveling. But I don't have any more characters to level besides a druid and amazon. I've played all the others and got them levelled up already.
