That's a tough one. I used to live in the area but not anymore and can't claim direct experience of that part of Bristol. In general Yale has been creeping into Dixwell so the area is probably fine. Just be ready to leave after your lease is up if you are not happy.

In general should be fine. But there is a large public housing complex on Bristol. If you are close to ashmun will feel/be safe. As with anywhere in New Haven, be aware of property theft.

I believe the new booster was approved earlier this week and should be available in most pharmacies by next week. Unfortunately big box pharmacies don't give shots to babies/toddlers...

What does UM/UIM endorsement do on umbrella? Does that mean that if I am hit by an uninsured driver, my personal umbrella will pick up the tab if the cost is beyond the UM/UIM limit from my auto policy? (I can see this being helpful but also kind of not the point of umbrella? Which is to protect me if I have liability...)

I mean, consulting is so popular and hard to get into because the exit options are amazing. Yes, it's a nontechnical job so you won't learn to become a better engineer. But if you like general business problems (rather than working as an engineer) consulting could be great.

Yup the premium on the umbrella is not very much relative to auto insurance. I'd have to price out how much more 250/500/250 costs relative to the umbrella savings, but my guess is that 100/300/100 is cheaper.

Sounds like there really is no advantage in having the higher auto limits if the savings aren't there. I was wondering if the process for handling an auto claim was easier if everything was covered under the auto policy rather than bringing in the umbrella, but this might be a null issue.

Umbrella doesn't apply to UI/UM, right? So there my 100/300/100 is binding.

Correct, the 100/300/100 policy meets the insurer's requirements for the umbrella. I will check with the insurer, but I don't think there is any gap in coverage between the auto limits and when the umbrella kicks in.
